Folks,
By now, I hope that a lot of you have become like me: researchers. Here is a link to a good article, written at Blogger. I recommend it, because this guy is knowledgeable: click the link that I have provided.

Now, about the gun. The concept is to have a compact arm, of serious power and magazine fed. A gun need not be an automatic loader in order to have a magazine. I like the thinking of the design, it is unorthodox, but very practical. The applications are: hunting, defense and just fun shooting. Never forget, nor disparage, having fun at shooting. It is very entertaining to trick shoot for instance. This gun is a .308 Winchester chambering, so it will shoot a long way off. If you hunt with it, it will take a deer every time. All you need to do is blast him in a good spot. It will stop a bear charge too, but you may have to shoot him 3 or 4 times. One shot should do it, but you never know.

The possibilities just jump out at me. Challenge your friends to a shooting match. Just make sure that you have practiced beforehand. It can be humbling to be out-shot by your: niece, cousin, ole buddy, etc. Target shoot with it, but use 2 liter bottles, placed 20 yards away. When they blow up, you will be certain that you hit one. Blowing up bottles like that is a blast. When you get good, go out to 50, then 100 yards. If you can hit the bottle at those distances, you have become a sure shot. Stretch your mind and lengthen your shot to 200 yards or better. It may sound silly to do that, but you can hit the bottle with consistency after enough practice.

If you should ever need to use it for defense, the receiver of that round won't be having a good day. The .308 is what the M-14 and M-60 is chambered for. It is a shortened .30-06 and it has about 80-90% of its power. It just depends upon what rounds you buy. If you buy old NATO rounds to shoot, some have a steel core. You can find out which by looking for the info on line. Regular ammo dealers sell them, they ain't some unorthodox thing that only the Rangers/SF can get. ( BTW: A Scout Rifle would make a good sniper gun for SOCOM. It fulfills a lot of what they need in a gun. But it ain't ever gonna happen, because they are big budget. They can build their own from scratch and they do at times.)

Now to the mags, these are plastic and they come in different capacities: 3, 5 & 10 rounds. They are much cheaper that the steel variety and are more durable to boot. There is a video of a torture test, wherein a pickup truck runs over a mag. Then it is given a tap and knocked around with a baseball bat. It is a light smacking around, but is very illustrative. A steel/aluminum mag would deform and probably would stop working. Not these things, they just keep going.

Another test that reveals what a plastic mag is capable of, is to place it in a freezer overnight. Then take it out in the morning and drop it on concrete or blacktop. If it breaks, it has failed the test: and that is something that is better to discover beforehand.

Another torture test is to dunk it in mud, just fill a bucket full of dirt and make some mud. Then, like a madman, dunk your mag into it. The see how things works after rising it off pretty good. Because that's all you are going to be able to due if you are out in the woods and drop the thing into a mud hole. Just take out the rounds and start rising everything.

Use water on the mag and rounds, the dry the rounds ASAP. They can take a short dunk, if followed by a very quick drying off. Use your shirt if you have too, of course I am getting you to think fast. A dire situation may come your way and you will need to have a sharp problem solving mind beforehand.

It is that way in all defense situations: work it out in your mind and then you will follow your own script. Goodbye for now and God bless. I hope the best for you, but always be prepared for the worst.

President Obama is an oaf of a man, he is filled with hubris and displays it through bad manners. That is highlighted in the article.

Lott is currently a professor at the University of Maryland and is the author of "More Guns, Less Crime" and "Freedomonics." Lott taught at the University of Chicago the same time Obama was an instructor at Chicago.

Dave Bose: Just before the break, Professor Lott, I was mentioning that actually know Barack Obama. You met at the college.
John Lott: We were both at the University of Chicago. I was first in the business school and then I taught in the law school and I was there for like, five years. He was a lecturer there and – I don’t know – there were probably a couple of dozen times or whatever that we exchanged words. I saw him at a couple of seminars. I ran into and talked to people that were nearby him. One of the things though, is that the conversations all tended to be extremely short when I was involved with him.

John Lott: The first time I met him, I went over and introduced myself. He said, “Oh, you’re the gun guy.”
John Lott: And I said, “Yeah, I guess so.”
John Lott: And he said, “I don’t believe people should be able to own guns.”
John Lott: And I knew he was working at, with helping out…

Dave Bose: Wait. Let’s repeat that because Obama says he believes now that the 2nd Amendment preserves an individual right to keep and bear arms. In fact, Joe Biden whose helicopters are constantly being shot down by Frosty the Snowman has affirmed that Barack Obama’s not trying to take away guns and you’re telling me that the first thing you remember Obama saying to you was…

John Lott: Yeah, that he said, “I do not believe people should be able to own guns.”
Dave Bose: Okay

John Lott: I mean, if you just take the gun issue for a second, here’s a guy that when the supreme court decision came down at the end of June, said that the Supreme Court was merely confirming his own position on guns, that he believed that it was an individual right, that he always believed that it was, and that he apparently opposed the DC gun ban.

John Lott: The problem is you can find him making numerous statements prior to the Supreme Court decision where he said that he supported the DC gun ban. There are interviews that he did before the so-called Potomac Primaries in the spring, involving Maryland, Virginia, and DC, where he was interviewed on TV about that and he said quite firmly and emphatically that he was in favor of the ban. You have statements in the Chicago Tribune last fall.

John Lott: But overall, Obama has, there’s no doubt that he’s the most anti-gun presidential candidate that’s ever been nominated. In 1996 there was a candidate issue statement when he was first running for the state senate saying that he supported a ban on handguns. In 1998 there was a similar candidate statement saying that he supported a ban on semi-automatic guns. He supported legislation that would ban the sale of guns within five miles of any school or park, essentially banning virtually guns from being sold any place in virtually all of the states in the United States. There’s many other types of similar statements that one could go through on that.

John Lott: But often he’s gone and he’s said, for example in the 96 statement that it was an error by a staffer who had incorrectly filled out the form. The problem was, later on Politico, the Internet political news operation, got a hold of a copy of the actual candidate’s statement form and they found his handwritten notes on the copy that was there.
John Lott: The Chicago Tribute statement that came out last fall, again he blamed it on a staffer error, a so-called inartful attempt by a staffer to characterize his position. And as I say, you can go and find his own statements on videotape where he is saying that this year.

Dave Bose: Right, now he can just say he had an ACORN staffer fill it out for him. They’re pretty good at forgery. Actually, not so hot. He also wrote this book review for Bill Ayers that we were talking about earlier and I was wondering, I haven’t seen a hard copy of it but surely on the dust jacket there’s an “about the author” portion on Bill Ayers. Does it not mention anything about his past in radicalism and terrorism?

John Lott: I haven’t looked at the book.
Dave Bose: That’s what I want to know. I can’t get my hands on a hard copy and I want to see one of the old ones to see if the book that Obama was reviewing may have mentioned something.

John Lott: If I can just make one other comment about my interaction with Obama in Chicago?
Dave Bose: Oh yeah, sure.
John Lott: And that is when he made the statement about believe that people shouldn’t be able to own guns, I said, “Well, maybe we can get together for lunch and we can talk about it.”
John Lott: And because I knew he was also supportive of the Chicago suit against the gun makers.
John Lott: He just grimaced and turned around and walked away and that was the end of the conversation. And that’s the way many conversations went that I had with him and I believe just in general he really disliked talking to people that he regarded as conservatives.

Dave Bose: He didn’t even say goodbye? He just grimaced and turned around?
John Lott: Right.
Dave Bose: Or, did he say no thanks?
John Lott: No, he just turned around and walked away.
Dave Bose: Not even the usually polite, “Yeah, we’ll do that sometime?”
John Lott: No. I mean, and there were cases in later years where I would reach out to shake his hand and he would just refuse my hand.

John Lott: There was one seminar for example where he had asked a question. He only went to a couple of seminars the entire time he was there. He didn’t do any research or anything. He was basically brought in just to teach and as I understood as a way to let him run for public office.
It was kind of understood that, that was what he was going to do to begin with, because if you’re only teaching three hours a week and you’re not having to do any research, it gives you a lot of flexible time to go and campaign for office.

John Lott: But, he had asked a question in a seminar and I don’t think anybody understood what the question was. I thought I did and so after the seminar went up to him and I said, “I think it was an interesting question. I think you could have rephrased it a little bit differently.”
John Lott: And again, he just turned his back to me and started talking to someone else. And it wasn’t so much that he just disagreed. I really got the impression that he really believed that I was evil because I had different views, particularly on the gun issue.

Asia Bibi: A Case History

Asia Bibi, a Christian wife and mother in Pakistan, was arrested by police on June 19, 2009, and charged with blasphemy after she engaged in a religious discussion with co-workers. Many of the local women, including Asia, worked on the farm of Muslim landowner Muhammad Idrees. Her family was one of only three Christian families in a village of more than 1,500 families. During their work, many of the Muslim women had pressured Asia to renounce Christianity and accept Islam.

On June 19, 2009 there was an intense discussion among the women about their faith. The Muslim women told Asia about Islam, and, according to VOM sources, Asia responded by telling the Muslim women that Jesus is alive. “Our Christ sacrificed His life on the cross for our sins...Our Christ is alive.” She told them. Upon hearing this response, the Muslim women became angry and began to beat Asia. Then some men took her and locked her in a room. They announced from mosque loudspeakers that she would be punished by having her face blackened and being paraded through the village on a donkey.

Local Christians informed the police, who took Asia into protective custody before the Muslims could carry out their plan. Christians urged the police not to file blasphemy charges, but the police claimed they had to go forward because of pressure from local Muslim leaders.

After a lengthy trial, on Nov. 8, 2010, Asia Bibi was sentenced to death by a judge. The judge also fined Asia $1,190 (U.S.) and told her she had seven days to appeal the decision. Her attorneys filed the appeal promptly, and now wait for the Lahore High Court to rule. If the appeal is rejected, Asia would be the first woman to be lawfully executed under Pakistan’s blasphemy laws. She remains in prison, waiting to hear the high court’s ruling.

On Jan. 4, 2011 the governor of Punjab province, where Asia lives, was assassinated by a member of his security team. Though a Muslim, Salmaan Taseer had spoken out repeatedly in favor of a pardon for Asia Bibi and for a reexamination of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws. Governor Taseer also met with Asia in prison. On March 2, 2011, Shahbaz Bhatti, the only Christian member of Pakistan’s cabinet and another person who had spoken out on behalf of Asia Bibi, was also assassinated for his support of her.

The Voice of the Martyrs has supported Asia Bibi and her family since the time of her arrest. In July, 2011, VOM launched www.CallForMercy.com in an effort to gather 1,000,000 signatures from around the world asking for Asia’s release.

I think that the article speaks for itself, as does the actions of all Muslims, everywhere they are found. They kill, steal and destroy: those are attributes of the Devil. There is no peace, no justice, no rights of man, that cannot be trampled upon in Islam. All one need do is accuse an innocent of blasphemy, or defaming Mohammed. After that, it's a stoning with a big pile of rocks or some other fashion of death and destruction.

I have a great big problem with Islam and the adherents of it. And I ain't afraid to say so.

BTW: If someone knows where there is peace and mercy in Islam; won't you please tell me where that is. I have not seen or heard of the place.

The Fall Of Libya And Sharia

I am in full expectation that the fall of Khaddafi will prove to be in vain. A new tyrant is on his way, of that I am convinced. I am predicting that a new foothold has been established by Hezbollah or somebody. The same thing is probably taking place in Egypt and time will prove me false or true. I am not one to look at a smattering of elephant crap and then declare it art. No, it is a load of crap and someone has been suckered into accepting it as the work of the gifted. That is why it has been displayed in museums and it has.

There is an inexorable work taking place in the Arabs countries, one tyrant after the other has been overthrown. There is an old canard that goes like this: the devil that you know is better than the devil that you don't. The new devil will be like the old one, in that they are evil beings. But the new one will be more evil than the old one. I am predicting that sharia will become the law of the land in Libya and in Egypt.

What's it all mean Alfie? One of the most dangerous things that the World has ever seen is taking shape, right on TV. When Sharia finally rears its evil head and makes itself known to America, then she will know. A new and loathsome evil is in the lands of the World and here as well. It is being universally ignored by the intelligensia; or welcomed by them, as a counter-balnce to that bad old Christianity. That is the thing that they cannot abide with, Christianity. That makes them like the Muslims and they are natural allies. The dangerous dolts that populate TV-ville, movie-ville and cities like Washington/ New York/ Philly/Chicago et. al. ;are of one mind. If it is destructive of Christian or American ideals, then it must be good.

Khadaffi was a bad guy, but a worse one is on his way, that is my oracle to you.

The Four Gun Battery

Here is a good article that I found at FirearmsForum.com. In it, the writer makes some good points; such as, should you have to shoot someone, there will be consequences. The cops will take your gun as evidence for one thing, so it is always best to have at least two pistols of a serious caliber. That way you will still have a gun and you may well need it. If you have to kill or seriously wound an assailant in self-defense, he will have friends and they will not like you at all. There may be more than one shooting event before it is all said and done.

Which brings me to tell you this story. After I was acquitted of Randy's murder, I met two of his friends as I was walking. It was very late and night and they both stopped, one of them asked me if I was the one that killed Randy. I told him that yes I was, all three of us had stopped and we were staring each other down. My inquisitor said, "Let's settle this, I am going to take my knife to you, the same way that you did to Randy."
I told him, "OK, let's go, if that is the way it is."

He told me to step over into a dark alley and we would get it going right there. I said, "No, if we are going to that, we can do it right here in the light." (There was light from the streetlights and it would have been very public and visible.) He declined to that and he told me that another time would do just as well. Then we all turned and went our separate ways.

Friends, I had my .45 Colt Auto in my pocket, loaded. He could not see it however and I did not offer to tell him about it. He thought that he had the situation in hand and he would do what he would. I would have lit them up, as I expected to be attacked with knives by both of them. They were overconfident and running their yaps, when they should have been considering things. Now, only one did the talking, but both of them were in on it.

I figured,"Well, it's back to jail all over again!" I would have shot it out with them folks, if anyone is fool enough to attack me with a knife, I will us deadly force. There it is, in black and white. And yes, this happened in Huntington West Virginia, just a few days after my acquittal. How is it that I am the one that these things happen to? I am the one that stands up to tyrants, that's why. So if you decide that you are going to be that way, just remember, there may be no going back.

I can't go back to Huntington proper because of it and my face was splashed all over the TV and newspapers. My name and story was broadcast over every radio station in town, and I am infamous now.
People recognized me when I went to a different church and town, there was no getting away from it in the Tri-State area. Which is not an insignificant area either, there are 300,000 people living in the metro areas of Huntington-Ashland-Ironton. And they all knew my face and name.

But the main emphasis of the article is to have a number of guns, because you will need them, if it hits the fan. It is no joke friends, you will need them. At the end of it, he modifies his article and it is an important point. He does away with any small caliber weapons in favor of large calibers,e.g., the .40 or above. I don't disagree, but I would feel fine with a 12 round .380 ACP. I mentioned that in a prior posting about a Taurus.

Keep in mind however, that I made the stipulation of having at least 1 extra mag for a reload. But, that is the same stipulation that I make for my .45 Auto, I will have at least 1 reload mag: for a total of 14 or 15 rounds. That would mean at least 24 rounds of .380 would be available to me in magazines. One in the gun and one in my pocket. Let me go so far as to state this, I would have a knife on me too.

Sounds nuts? Then you ain't been where the danger is palpable and you can get killed: where it is not a far off threat, but at your side.

The Fall Of Egypt and The Future Of Israel And America

It was inevitable that Egypt would fall, but it was still unexpected. What this means is another Islamic nation at Israels doorstep and another American enemy. The Arab Spring has turned out to be an Iran look-alike, with promises of freedom being a smokescreen.

Just as sure as the sun rises, Egypt will be taken over by Hezbollah and Hamas, just like Lebanon was. Israel is being boxed in by committed enemies. In the meantime, we in America are bemoaning that Afghanistan did not roll over and play dead when we got there. The US will abandon that ground as fast as they can find the exits. Sadly, America has a long history of never really finishing its fights.

However, our destiny is tied to Israel and we will not just run and hide this time. The raving lunatics that call themselves Muslims will come and pay us continual visits. Fort Hood was portentous that way, when Major Hassan opened fire. Look for more massacres by Muslims, inside of America. It was an attack on America by a Jihadist Muslim and that has been obscured on purpose.

Because America has the habit of hanging its friends out to dry, that is the eventual fate of Israel. When we do that, we are in for Hell on Earth: it will be another of the fatal mistakes that America has made in the last 35 years or so. We did the same thing to Vietnam and we are not a better nation because of that. No, instead we are funding an enemy, which is China.

But that is another story for another time. Right now a power block is forming, in which all Arab nations will become entrenched Islamic tyrannies. That will be followed by alliances with Russia, mark my words. A big dog is needed, which can better order the pack. And it is a natural alliance too.

What does it all mean? It ain't good from the looks of things and it will get worse. Here we are in America making more noises about defense cuts, and we can see the World going downhill right before our eyes.
We as a nation are more concerned about Medicare than the Army. There are scads of silly old people, trying to remain young, vital and with it. It is as if they were wearing blinders and do not want to be bothered by what is going on in the World. A battle of the mind is taking place, between seeking pleasure and being strong in heart.

The fall of Egypt was a really bad thing and I wonder how long it will be before a major war breaks out. We won't run away that time because we will be dragged into it. We ran away from Iran as it fell and now they are the major enemy of ours in the Middle East. I look for the same thing to happen in Egypt and in Libya too.

Just because it does not happen within the next few months, does not mean that it won't happen.

Recommendations In Gun Choice

I think that I can say this without worrying too much that there may be some weak hinges on my door.

Taurus, Ruger, Smith and Wesson and Colt make really good guns. You will not go wrong if you buy name brand. Like everything in life, if you want a Cadillac, prepare to be pay a Cadillac price. Some Cadillac's include Kimber and Colt, they are not inexpensive. They tend to be flawless though, I have a Colt .45 Auto and I don't have any qualms in singing its praises. That gun has stood the test of time and it has stood by me in times of trial: it has been in a holster and a pocket during some of those times too. I don't just talk a tough fight folks, I can fight one too.

See this gun? With me having never touched one, I can tell you that it would get me out of a pack of trouble. It is a .380 Automatic and it hold 15+1 rounds. That means that the magazine holds 15 and you can put 1 in the chamber. That is what +1 means, it stands for a chambered round.(You are one step closer to being a gun wizard now.) It has a blue finish and a lot of people consider that a weakness, but it is not. I have a blued finish Colt and I love it. That finish is what you want if you want a good looking gun, you would be amazed how handsome they can be. This is the Taurus Model 638B-15. (And when you follow the link at the bottom of my blog, you can view a stainless twin right beside it. Just copy and paste the link into your address window.)

Now, concerning that .45 of mine, here is a shot of one like it.

This is a Series 80 and mine is a series 70, the differences are not that great though. The distinction is that the Series 80 has an added safety device, the idea being to avoid accidental fire. I will spare you any superfluous chatter about all of that: you are going to have to research that for yourself. You can do it, don't sell yourself short.
This one sold online for circa $700 and it popped-up at AuctionArms.com and I am posting their Facebook address.

This gun is for the serious-minded and for serious sit-reps. Let's say that you have been targeted by The Big Bad Wolf and you are his next-intended snack. He better just get lost! You friends could be the proud new owner of a brand-new wolf rug if he does not. I am not being way-out there when I say that this gun made the Army a better place to be. So what if the model number is a little different? It is the one that Sergeant York used.
Here is a tid-bit from Wikipedia about that--During the assault, six German soldiers in a trench near York charged him with fixed bayonets. York had fired all the rounds in his M1917 Enfield rifle, but drew his .45 Colt automatic pistol and shot all six soldiers before they could reach him.

Parenthetical Brain Fart:
By the way, read about Sergeant Alvin York if you want to know what courage is. I have yet to see it bettered in story or deed. And I have read some few Medal Of Honor citations. (Did I mention that I talked to a Medal winner? Yes, I know his daughter and I met her at the Campus Christian Center on the Marshall U. campus: located in Huntington West By God Virginia. Who can tell where life will lead you? I never would have guessed it by talking to her. She was driving his car and it has MOH plates.)

(You know, I have a lot of fun in life and I love life: and I love you, as friends. Love will walk through the fire folks, be like me in that way. And keep that .45 loaded too, it can be a pretty good fire bucket.)

So, in no particular order, here I am presenting you with a couple of good guns. Either one will get you through the night or a half-dozen pukes. I better stop now, I tend to wander off the reservation a lot and I am scared of getting lost. So I will just turn this into a three-part writing, you will love it and have fun too.

Considerations In The Choosing Of A Self-Defense Gun

This is a continuation of the article What Gun Should I Buy For My Wife or Girlfriend or Sister or Daughter or Mother?

I like to write in blocks of like-thought. It is so much easier to comprehend what is going on, and being said by me. If I jump all over the place, then I won't do you any good in finding an answer to things.

I am going to deal with some down-to-Earth considerations here. I will start with this, the gun that you choose should be able to stop a pit-bull/German Shepard/mountain lion. I like to keep things in perspective and it is a real-world consideration to think that someone might sic a big dog on you. It is also a real consideration that you might walk up on a mountain lion on a nature walk: Insert bobcat/buck/coyote or whatever critter might inhabit your neck of the woods here. That keeps it real and keeping it in mind that there are rabid critters in the woods does too. Rabies slowly kills the animal, but first it torments them with madness. If you are ever bitten by one, look forward to a painful regimen of shots.

When you think about a gun, think outside the lines, use your imagination. Ask yourself--"If I encounter XYZ, then what?" That shiny new gun that you just have to have, what are its capabilities? Just as sure as the old canards are true--such as--"You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear", then you cannot make a .357 Mag out of a .22 LR, no matter how hard you try. You ain't going to make a .454 Casull out of a .380 Auto either. Let me illustrate that to you, should I be walking in the woods and encounter a mountain lion and I have a .454 Casull, then the mountain lion is a s good as dead. If I have a .22 Long Rifle revolver and it is masquerading as a real gun, meant for real bad critters, then what I have is a real problem.

With a .22 LR, I may be able to kill the cougar before he kills me (or does damage that is irreparable) and I may not. With a .454, I will flip that cat head over heels, of that I am certain. Now take that and make it 3 guys with steel bars and the result is the same. I tell you that there will be 3 dead men in short order if I have a .454 Casull. If I have a .22 LR, I can just about guarantee that I will be the dead man. Is that too blunt? If you do not view it that way, then you are certain to choose less gun than you need for any true exigency.

Now concerning the mentioning of the .454, what hat did I pull that out of? In answer, one never knows where one will end up in life and I ended up in Alaska with the Army for a year of my life. That is .454 country folks and it is possible to be killed and eaten by a bear in that locale. Yeah, I have heard the blather, e.g., you have better chance of being struck by lightening. Just shut it up if you are of that school of thought. If you ever say it to my face, we are going to go round and round, there may be a fight. Having been struck by lightening in the metaphorical sense on at least a half-dozen occasions, you can just stuff it. I will carry my own lightening rod from now on thank you, no need for opinionated conclusions and such. I guess I am just heterodox and my beliefs do not tend to coincide with loddy-doddy and everybody.

That is largely because of some of the things that have happened to me. Let's just say that I come loaded for bear. Now in my life, that means a .357 Mag, a .45 Automatic or a 9 MM and on occasion it has meant a .44 Magnum Super Blackhawk by Ruger. I carried it back in my Alaska days and on occasion I would carry my .357 Security Six by Ruger. That is because of the conditions that were prevalent, I used my good sense. If a bear were to attack me and I had that .357, I was going to give him a mouthful of bullets, and I was going to do it up close and personal. I was going to blow his jaw off with him on top of me. Hows that for thinking about things? Now a lightweight would pose the question--"Why would you wait for a bear to get on top of you?"--thus sealing his true thinking. Folks, a bear is very fast when it charges and you could find yourself under one.

If you think that I sound emotionally scarred, what are you going to sound like if you get trashed by a gang of pukes? That is the true test of a gun, what will it do in the event of a catastrohic failure of society? When the Los Angeles riots took place in 1992, there were men patrolling their neighborhoods with AR-15's and riot guns. Think that way: what if the sky fell?; what gun would let me live to tell about it? Generally speaking a 12 gauge pump is a pretty good bet to get you safely through.

A .410 single shot is not what I think of, when I think in those terms. If you do, then you need to think through your tactics. It ain't enough gun folks, not to get you out of a dangerous situation. Now a .410 pump, loaded with slugs should do just fine. Think of it as a .41 Magnum and you won't be tooo far off. Just make sure that you maintain a full box of shells at all times. Should you go blazing away and not stop the threat, you will need a reload. That goes for any gun, have plentiful ammo. (Ask yourself--What would that .410 do to a 100 pound dog? The easy answer is that it would dismember it.)

Here are some more recommendations for guns that will get you through the night: a .38 Special with about 3 speed loaders should do it. And I don't mean that you get the gun with the loaders and put it up until Hell visits you and yours. I mean that you go out and practice with it, by speed loading and shooting into a target. I am not contradicting myself here when I recommend a.380 Auto, I am inserting a caveat with the advice; practice with it and get at least 3 magazines for it, and keep the mags loaded, with the gun.

It will get you through a lot of things in life, but it ain't a hand held atomic bomb. If I had a .380 I would be fine for the most part, but around the house, that would not be my only loaded gun. I would have a .30-30 in the closet with a box of rounds ready to go with it: that goes for the .38 too, I would have a loaded rifle or shotgun in tandem with it. Maybe the shotgun comes out, maybe it doesn't, but it would be available.

Folks, let me close this article in this manner. If I had a .380 Auto and I was walking the streets minding my own bees wax, I would be a very bad target to choose. That is because I would be loaded for bear, metaphorically. That .380 Auto would have Federal Hydra-Shok loads, or something of that nature (see footnotes for the web address). That load has a mere 200 foot pounds of energy and that ain't much, so don't kid yourself. But with enough steel nerve and 12 rounds, you will walk away from it. I do not recommend any less, than a dozen rounds be carried with you; ready loaded in a magazine.

If I sound scolding or just mean-minded, I am not. If you find yourself in a do or die, then it will be a mortifying event and you won't forget it. That is how I gauge a gun and the man with it, what are you expecting in life? If you expect that everyone is going to be you real good pal, then you are delusional. Not everyone is going to be your enemy, but they ain't your friend either. If you have to make a stand, then you are going to make it alone. No one will step in, look at it that way. Trust me, if you ever get into a savage encounter, there will not be an abundance of time, it will be fast and furious. So that even if you had a stranger willing to intervene and help you, the time may be tooooo short. Even if you are with trusted friends, who would help, the time it takes to act may be very narrow. It ain't a game folks, so think in grave terms, and you will be on the right track.

I know that I am a wet blanket to a lot of people, but what I have written is the truth, and that matters to me. Below is a link to Federal Ammunition, they make some of the best. What Gun Should I Buy For My Wife or Girlfriend or Sister or Daughter or Mother ?

I am posting this from Christian Gun Owner. The topic is confusing and confounding to a lot of people and the topic is standard fare in the gun world. In my estimation most women can fire a .45 or a .357 with aplomb. It is a matter of the mind in a lot of ways. However, a lot of people do not like a gun blasting and barking, like a hard to control bulldog. And since the object is to have a gun--in case a life or death situation breaks out--I will leave any choice of one, up to you and your good sense. That is a main reason that I write this blog, it is in case of life or death. It happened to me and it can happen to you.

Girls, I have a news flash, you are smaller and weaker than men. And there are bad men who make it their business to take advantage of that. That is something to think on, will the gun that you choose stop the big bad wolf? Mine will and it will stop a whole pack of them in their slathering tracks. That is how I choose my guns and I have had fortunate events in my life that helped me choose, like: Alaska and bears, gangs in the city, fools using pick-up trucks, et.al. That will tend to clear up the mind in a hurry.

One of the most common inquiries I get from men through the CGO contact form is the one mentioned in the title. While well meaning, almost 100% of the time this question involves the man "taking care of" the woman or girl without any input from the female until he buys her what "she needs".

The comments often go something like this when trying to decide what gun they should buy for a female in their lives: "Well, she has smallish hands and not much experience with handguns, so I'd like her to start out with a small .22 ..... so there's not much recoil and she can get used to shooting before going to a larger gun and caliber." Or it may be something like this: "She wants to carry concealed so I'm trying to find her a small revolver like a (insert any small light .38spl thru .357 mag here). She doesn't like recoil, so getting her a small gun is going to be important. Plus she has to be able to conceal it."

Here is one of the all time most frequent assumptions: "I'm going to get her (x,y,z) .380 that she can put in her pocket. And it's important that she has a gun that she can control. I like the "(anything small)" so I thought I'd start her there. I think she'll like the small, controllable size."

There are lots more variations of these and nearly all of them are so off base that the only answer I can give to these guys is for them to completely change directions. Because any man choosing a gun for any woman without that woman's input while deciding on the gun, is a study in off target assumptions about what the woman in their lives will love shooting. And it's an assumption that because he is a man, his decision about her gun without her handling, shooting, or many times even seeing it will be correct .... because of his maleness. Everything will be ok .....?

More guns that are useless to the recipient have probably been bought this way than any other way on earth. Because until a woman sees, touches, feels, works the action and shoots a gun, there is nobody (including those closest to her) that can determine what she will shoot successfully and with confidence.

Unfortunately I also get frequent questions from women (not as often as men buying for them) about the "best gun for a woman". Sadly, there is no such thing. If I could find this firearm, I would probably become famous very quickly. But that firearm does not, and will not exist because all women are different in size, strength, and most importantly, personality. And that last part is what plays the biggest part in a woman deciding on a gun. When it comes down to it, her size is not most important. The size of her hands is not most important because grip can be adjusted to shoot most common handguns sold to consumers. The reality is that if a person does not have a significant negative physical attribute that limits them, it's their personality that will determine most dramatically what they will shoot with confidence and how much they will work physically to carry the most effective handgun they can manage.

My daughter started shooting casually with me when she was 12 and only liked to shoot a 9mm that I told her was "hers". As far as she was concerned anything else was not suitable for shooting. She went through a few years where she didn't want to shoot much, but at around 15 started to show an interest again. One day she said she would like to shoot some "different stuff" (meaning guns). So, we took out about everything I owned to let her try it out. Today, her 3 favorite guns are a Taurus 627 .357 magnum, a S&W Model 29 .44 magnum, and a Sig Sauer P220 .45 ACP. And today, she is one of the most careful and competent gun handlers on the range with our Group. Go figure. I didn't push. Her personality just emerged.

My wife, on the other hand, is not afraid of larger, more dramatic handguns, but she doesn't care about shooting them. She'll go out with our Group and go through 500 rounds of .22LR put through a Walther P22 pistol. Personality. Of all the women that shoot with our Group, every one of them is different, liking to shoot various calibers and shunning others. Each with their own personality. It would be impossible for me to pick a "just right" handgun for any of them to carry. I could give them broad advice on quality, but they would each have to try what would eventually work for them.

So, this is the answer to everybody for this question. I can give general advice on quality, dependability, gun size, etc. But there is no way that I ..... or you can tell what will work for any woman until they do their own tests with the guns in their hands.

Choose a gun for her any other way successfully, and you have been striken with the greatest focused lightening bolt of luck ever known. Don't do it. Take her with you and get her input at every stage of the process. The only way to intelligently choose a gun for a woman. Let her do it.

The Arab Spring Summed Up In A Nutshell

I am writing about this because I think that it matters. There has been a whole-hog glorification of impending democracy in the Middle East and it is being done by the press; and it is palpably false, it is borderline disinformation. When Mubarak left office in Egypt, it was hooray this and hooray that, the bad man is gone. And now, he is being investigated for human rights abuses. I am sure that there were many of them under his authority, yet there must need-be some context here.

For instance: a secret-police organization arrests someone without a warrant and then they torture the arrestee. That is what occurred in Egypt under Mubarak (it happened under Sadat as well and for good reason too). Most Americans would recoil at that and demand that it be stopped. (I am one of those Americans, as I do not want such a thing to happen to me.) Admittedly, that is bad; but there is much worse in this World.

Something worse is the Muslim Brotherhood, which seems to have won powers in Egypt as a result of the protests. I will not bore you to tears here, I will simply say that there is no more sinister people on Earth than they are. Killers and cut-throats, they are the really bad actors in the Middle East. When you hear about Hamas, Hezbollah, the PLO, et.al, they are all off-shoots of The Brotherhood, it is just that simple.

The organization did not appear as of yesterday and spring a surprise on everyone, it has a charter. Here is a section of the Charter Of Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood:

Why does President Obama saunter up to a microphone and like a fool, tell Netanyahu to clear out of the "conquered territories". Because, President Obama and the left wing as a unit, never give credence to what has been written by the Arabs about Israel. It is a death-wish for the Jews and it has been written down, broadcast,and preached in every mosque in the world.

If it seems that I have just drawn an analogy between Islam and the mindset and sloganeering of "Death For The Jews!", it is because I have. That is the full intent of Islam, whether it is called moderate or radical. The end result is the same, Israel gets pushed into the Mediterranean and all the Jews die.

When this series of revolution is finished, the Middle East will have gone from the fat into the fire. It is patently obvious that President Obama is out of his league and does not know what to say or do. So he attacks PM Netanyahu of all people, he might as well have punched a hornets nest. The man that he attacked is an ex-commando, the real McCoy, just like the SEAL/Delta teams that killed bin-Laden, just like them.

(Netanyahu was a member of Sayeret Matkal under Ehud Barak--Ehud was another PM by the way. Do a comparison between them and President Obama if you will. The President comes up wanting in all regards.)

What do I see coming in the Middle East? I see the Muslim Brotherhood taking a role that is really alarming to me. I greatly admire Netanyahu and Israel in general, I am just like them. The danger that they are about to encounter is going greatly increase, in my view. This is not the ascendancy of a new dawn folks, this is a sunset. Egypt will become like Iran, mark my words. It may not be next year or the year after that, but it will happen. Pray for the peace of Israel, is my only foil to that.

The Arab Spring will be looked at as when the tyrants of X were replaced by the tyrants of Y. And Y is worse and this won't be fun when it comes to fruition. Forgive my abundant parentheticals, but they were necessary to elucidate some important areas. While Khadaffi is evil and I revile him, there are worse out there. While Assad is bad, there are much worse out there. In a lot of ways, this is a comparison between the devil that you know and the devil that you don't. This is portentous and filled with slippery slopes. Stupid stuff said by dim-wits doesn't change that either.

Insane Babble and Willful Blindness

I looked at an article about Syria and the babbling brook of idiocy was flowing swiftly: by that I mean the doofus writing.

Syria has been a bastion for terrorism since the bad old days; or for as long as I can remember anyway. Going back to such things as the Baader-Meinhof gang. That was when terror groups in the 1970's took haven in and received money from every Arab tyranny there was. All of the Arab tyrannies themselves were aided by Russia, who was the primary funder of Communist terrorists in the West.

What does that have to do with anything you ask? Syria is a nation run by cut throats, with Assad as the big-cheese rat in charge. He will hang onto power too, he is not Mubarak of Egypt. He has killed his way into power, right along with his father, who was the former tyrant there. Dad handed the reins to sonny and here it is, another massacre in the works perpetrated by the junior Assad.

This is a nation wherein the Baath Party rules. There has never been a bigger pack of killers than that bunch, they are every bit the equal of Communism. The Baath are a blend of Communism and Arab nationalism. I predict that Assad will maintain power and that he could end up killing 50,000 people to do it. It would not be the first time that Syria has massacred tens of thousands.

My point in all of that is, that the news writers lie and they do it on purpose. There is a willful blindness and it shows itself in idiotic babble. They are always wrong in their assessments and they will be wrong here. Assad is not going anywhere.

Let us consider this--"Washington's plan to peel the country away from Hamas, Hezbollah and Tehran."--huh, who wrote that crap? It is willful blindness to write that. Syria has funded both groups and always will, it ain't just Iran that sends them money and firepower. Hezbollah did not just show up on Israels borders one day with anti-aircraft guns.

Those are serious weapons in anybodies army--where did they get them? I believe that Sherlock Holmes would use deduction and induction; and that it would be elementary. They got them by way of Russia, who sold them to a middleman. Russia is friend to Syria and that is a big friend to have. It is all portentous and I do not see the sun rising and melting the cold dawn away.

That is the reason that I posted part of the article here. To me, it has relevance to a future conflict, and it won't be pretty. The United States has become a bastion of fools and dolts, who espouse their foolishness in colleges and in government. That ain't good, people. It may not happen within the next 5 years, but it will happen; we will live to face Syria, Iran, Yemen and other looney-toon nations on the battle field. You just remember that I said that, because prophecy is easy when you have read the Book. It won't just be Israels fight then, it will be ours.

And we are already in it, by being in Afghanistan and Iraq and we will not extricate ourselves in this one. This ain't Vietnam or Korea and we ain't going to just pick up our toys and go home. It amazes me how many Americans don't get that basic premise, we ain't getting out of this without a fight. They took took our World Trade Center down, we didn't take theirs. That was a cold shower of water on our propensity to dawdle in America.

Unrest in Syria has repercussions well beyond the country's borders.

Syria has a pivotal role in most of the flashpoint issues of the Middle East — from the Arab-Israeli peace process to Iran's widening influence — because of its alliances with militant groups such as Lebanon's Hezbollah and Shiite powerhouse Iran.

Instability in Syria also throws into disarray the U.S. push for engagement with Damascus, part of Washington's plan to peel the country away from Hamas, Hezbollah and Tehran.

The White House said Monday it is considering sanctions against the Syrian government in response to the brutal crackdowns on protesters. The statement from National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor was the first time officials had said publicly that sanctions were possible in Syria.

Syria already is subject to numerous penalties as it is deemed a "state sponsor of terrorism" by the State Department, but it maintains diplomatic relations with Washington.

Monday's sweep into Daraa, in a province of about 300,000 people, sought to hit the opposition movement at one of its pillars. The protests against Assad began there in March and several political figures from the area have stepped down to protest the violence in embarrassing defections from the regime.

The area was ripe for unrest: The grip of Syria's security forces is weaker on the border areas than around the capital, Damascus, and Daraa hasn't benefited from recent years of economic growth. Meanwhile, Daraa has absorbed many rural migrants who can no longer farm after years of drought.

In recent days, there had been signs that the regime was planning to launch a massive push against the opposition.

How To Be Brave

I am destined to be in this world for a short time. I can look around and read grave markers, if it takes that. Am I too blunt? Sometimes I can be. Be let's face it, we have fourscore years, if we live to a ripe old age of 80 years. What will be done with it?

We all have the same basic conditions to work with: we eat, sleep, take baths, cuss about the rent and have near-aneurysms, when we think about the price of gas. We are all afraid, we fear, but it is what you fear most that will make or break you. Most people fear dying above all other things. It is understandable, dying is a tough thing to do and yet, we will all do it. I will die and I know it, but it does not bother me very much. It used to though, I went through some agonies with that and I had a deep fear of it.

I developed some trump cards to deal with it: I became a Christian and then I made up my mind to live a brave life, God is with me in my life and will be there in my death--etc. Thinking that way really did clear out the trash in my mind. I do not give room to cowardice, it ain't allowed in my mind. All that I will ever ask for, is that I not die a foolish death. There is a summary of how I developed courage.

To have courage: think of yourself as brave and daring, able to handle anything dangerous. When you do that, you are halfway to home base. Next, practice in your mind what you will do if faced with danger. After all, if there is no danger involved, there is likewise no courage involved.

My mother was brave and she showed me how to overcome fear. I walked over top of raging creeks while they were at flood stage, because that is what I had to do. My whole family walked over that railroad bridge together. It was one of the bravest things that I have done in life and we all did it. I did it because my mother was with me and I trusted her with my life: we all did it that way.

I am pretty bold because of that and other things that I had to do in life. I had to fight bullies in school and no one would help me. So I learned that the fight was my own. It always has been, sometimes I knew it, sometimes I did not. After that was cleared up, I became a pretty good fighter. My brother and I would wrestle in the yard and that was some of the hardest fighting in my life. And we were not even fighting for real, only wrestling. He was as strong as a bull and deaf. I nearly got strangled by him more than once, because he could not hear me when I said "I give!"

Today, I am an excellent wrestler: because he nearly choked me to death on occasion and because I landed on rocks at times and because he put me on my head, etc. It was rough and tumble and it helped to show me that I could beat a strong man, because I was capable and pretty strong myself. It dispelled fear and instilled courage. It began a life wherein I will not surrender to punks. And I have beaten some trained wrestlers in my day, because I was not afraid to try.

Today, I am old and fat--but--it is a very bad idea to attack me. I am still as brave as I ever was and I do not surrender lightly. I don't do it intellectually or physically or morally. I do not make distinctions between an attack physically or a personal attack of the ad hominem variety (that is a personal attack, always vicious and snide in its make-up). It is usually political or religious in make-up and I do not surrender ground to anyone who makes that sort of assault.

America needs that in men, she is being attacked. Women need it too, since they live in America and the world in general. They need brave men and they need to be brave themselves. It is always good to be that and it is never good to be craven. The distinctions have been blurred between what is good and what is bad. That is another attack that has been waged in this nation; the good is being categorized as suspect and the bad is being inserted.

To sum things up, I have never lived in a boring period of time and I suppose that I never will. Today I am required to stand my ground, call 'em like I see 'em, and to be there to stem a tide. I can do that, I have been doing it all along. I am happy when I know that I have been brave and not a sycophant. I am one of the kindest men that I know; but sometimes to be kind and understanding, is to aid in my own destruction. I lay down at night and I sleep peacefully, because I do not fear.

But let me mention God one more time, without Him I would not have courage. There are too many terrifying things going on. Something is being let loose in this world and it is the Devil. And no, it hasn't always been like this, I did not lock my doors when I was young, but I lock them now. I am brave but I know that something is there and he is a scary somebody. But, he does not matter in the end, he has a small window of time to work with.

Ha,ha! I win in the end! Look at me, look at me! I'm all brave and stuff! That is how I live my life, I am all brave and stuff. Be like me and you will be brave. Be like the world and you will always be afraid. I am not the only one that thinks this way. There are others, with any luck you will meet some of them. And that will be a good thing in your life.

Intruder Shot Dead at East Side Tacoma Home

A man shot and killed one of three burglars who broke into his East Side Tacoma house Monday afternoon, police said.

The man was home alone about 2:15 p.m. when he heard somebody at the door of his two-story house in the 3800 block of East J Street, police said.

After seeing a trio of men sneak around to the back sliding door and hearing glass break, the homeowner went upstairs and locked himself in a bedroom.

At least one burglar made his way upstairs and was about to enter the bedroom when “the resident opened fire through the door, striking the suspect several times,” police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The burglar who was shot was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.

Officers who responded to the scene used a police dog team to track a second suspect, who was arrested shortly after the shooting. A third suspect was still on the loose.

The alleged burglars are between the ages of 19 and 22.

Fulghum said he’s unsure why the men broke into the home in broad daylight or whether the owner of the home might have known them.

The homeowner, who was not hurt in the incident, was not arrested.

Police were searching the house and the suspects’ vehicle after securing warrants.

The M1911 Gets a Zero

Though never confirmed, many believe Lt. Baggett took down a plane with his M1911A1.

In the hands of American soldiers and marines, the M1911A1 performed admirably throughout World War II. In fact, there are numerous accounts of the 1911 being used in courageous acts earning the bearer the Medal of Honor.

There are also legends about the power, accuracy and reliability of Browning’s masterpiece, which may, or may not, be true, but speak to the magnificence of a pistol design that is more than 100 years old. One of these stories took place March 31, 1943, near Pyinmana, Myanma, and was first reported July 1996 in “Air Force Magazine.”

On that fated day, the 7th BG's 9th Bomb Squadron was sent on a mission to destroy a railroad bridge, but was attacked before it could reach its target. The bombing group took heavy fire from Japanese fighter planes, wounding the squadron’s commander, Col. Conrad F. Necrason, and disabling numerous B-24 Bombers, including one carrying Lt. Owen J. Baggett.

Though the crew continued to fight, it was obvious that the plane was going to crash, so Baggett’s pilot, Lt. Lloyd Jensen, ordered the men to bail out. Along with the other members of his unit, Baggett jumped from the plane and pulled his parachute.

The Japanese pilots fired on the floating crew killing some and wounding Lt. Baggett in the arm. The story goes that when the pilot who fired upon Baggett came around for a look, the young lieutenant hung limply in his harness as if dead. The ruse worked because the fighter raised his canopy as he flew within feet of the parachute giving Baggett an opportunity. As the plane soared by, Baggett raised his M1911A1 .45 and fired four rounds at the plane, which banked before stalling and crashing into the ground.

After landing on the ground, Lt. Baggett, along with three other crew members, was captured and taken to a POW camp near Singapore. Baggett didn’t really believe that he had taken down a fighter plane with only a handgun, but Col. Harry Melton, commander of the 311th Fighter Group, ended up at the same camp telling a story about a Japanese colonel that had said that the pilot Baggett had fired upon had been thrown clear of the plane and had been found dead of a single bullet to the head.

While there is no direct evidence that Lt. Owen Baggett did in fact take down a Japanese fighter plane with a handgun, many believe it to be true. Regardless, this is a great story of a courageous man involving a legendary pistol.

After the end of World War II, Owen Baggett remained in the military eventually rising to the rank of colonel in the U.S. Air Force, which was his rank when he retired to San Antonio, Texas. In 2006, at 85 years old, Owen Baggett died in Texas, but he will always be remembered as the man who used a .45 to get a Zero.

An Email To My Senators

I ask you to vote against the confirmation of Andrew Traver as Director of
the ATF.

No more anti-gun zealots or nitwits need apply to that agency. It has long
been a bastion of simpletons who would leave me and others to the kindness
of thug bastards.

Or contrarily it would prosecute me and others as "gun-runners": should I
or they go beyond prescribed limits. What limits, you ask? I don't know; I
suppose that would all depend upon how his Lord and Highness Traver might
feel on any particular day.

Scathing and unjust you say? I don't think so!
America is not the home of termites who burrow into the woodwork; and then
do their damage unseen.

This nation is larded down with enough of that. When does freedom die, is
it when a pencil pusher gives the go-ahead? It seems that way.

Coffee klatches with the Brady's? That's fine with me. But let him do it
on his own time and on his own dime: and not with the payroll of America
funding him. And not with high office as a masquerade or cloak; shielding
him while he torments a free citizenry.

I wrote that as a response to an NRA email, warning me of his upcoming selection inquiry by the Senate. I don't want him selected and I said so, that is a safeguard that Americans have. No other nation can do that, it is only in America that we can voice dissent. And live to tell about it or not be carried of to the Gulag.

Man viciously attacked in the subway

How many attackers can you count? I see 6 or 8, it is moving pretty fast and it is hard to tell. But when I paused it, I counted eight. Now look at the reaction of onlookers, they do not intervene in any way. Go read the commentary at You Tube and it is you will have a teaching moment. One guy says that maybe he had it coming. Maybe he did, but did he deserve to have onlookers who would not raise a finger to help? Would you help? What would you do?.

If you were attacked that way, how would you defend yourself? Think about it and fell free to comment. I would love to hear your input. As for me, that situation calls for a .357 Mag and a speed loader or two; that is my answer to it. Blast them off and worry about the fallout when it comes. Take it to a jury and explain yourself, subpoena the video for your defense. The prosecution will not volunteer it to you, so force the issue.

The National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Bill

I am a geek and that is to your benefit: geeks are intelligent but misunderstood sorts. Most geeks can't put things into context; they cannot speak to the average soul, in anything but geek-speak.

I can speak to the average sort and I do; and here is some info that will prove advantageous, if you read it and think about it. You have the right to self-defense, it is a law of nature and a law of legality. Never surrender that right, ever. I won't and I mean it.

This has been edited for your reading pleasure. The NRA can be ancillary in what they publish and it needs to be shortened on most occasions.

If this becomes the law of the land, America will be a better place. You will be able to pack your piece just about anywhere you go. It is a use of force by legislation and it forces the issue. That is required, because it ain't gonna happen of its own doing.

Right-To-Carry
The National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Bill

H.R. 822, introduced in the U.S. House by Representatives Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) and Heath Shuler (D-N.C.), would allow any person with a valid state-issued concealed firearm permit to carry a concealed firearm in any state that issues concealed firearm permits, or that does not prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms for lawful purposes.

A state's laws governing where concealed firearms may be carried would apply within its borders. The bill applies to D.C., Puerto Rico and U.S. territories. It would not create a federal licensing system; rather, it would require the states to recognize each others' carry permits, just as they recognize drivers' licenses and carry permits held by armored car guards. Rep. Stearns has introduced such legislation since 1995.

• H.R. 822 recognizes the significant impact of the landmark cases, District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) and McDonald v. City of Chicago (2010), which found that the Second Amendment protects a fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms and that the protections of the Second Amendment extend to infringements under state law.

• The right of self-defense is fundamental, and has been recognized in law for centuries. The Declaration of Independence asserts that "life" is among the unalienable rights of all people. The Second Amendment guarantees the right of the people to keep and bear arms for "security."

• The laws of all states and the constitutions of most states recognize the right to use force in self-defense. The Supreme Court has stated that a person "may repel force by force" in self-defense, and is "entitled to stand his ground and meet any attack made upon him with a deadly weapon, in such a way and with such force" as needed to prevent "great bodily injury or death." (Beard v. United States (1895))

Ladies and gentlemen, some things are implied by my writings: I will leave it to your good sense to figure out the obvious. A Way To Always Be Ready

Here are two items that will keep you ready to go. If things get beyond the capabilities of these items in combination, then you really are in hot soup.

The S&W M66 .357 Magnum

Hi folks,
I went to S&W Forums and I found these shots of the M66 S&W .357 Magnum. They really stirred my coffee and I am going to tell you about the gun. Let me begin with this: there is no better weapon out there to get yourself out of trouble.

Now, what the gun is. It is a revolver and a lot of people have shunned them for automatics. That is fine, pick what you need in life. Do not overlook this gun though, it is a fabulous thing.

I am going to write the article around two different pictures and 3 separate revolvers. They serve to show that the gun comes in many flavors. These are short barreled, I happened upon an article that highlighted just that kind. Lucky me, half my job is done.

This shot is one with a stainless frame and blued cylinders. It gives a nice two-tone and by golly the other one is three-tone. Rubber grips are on the top gun and small wooden grips are on the bottom one. Both have their strong and weak points as far as grips go.

This is a good example of an all-weather gun. If you get it wet, it won't rust right away. It takes a long time for that to happen to stainless, but clean off the water ASAP. Get into that habit with any gun.

Now to business end of my writing. These weapons are perfectly sized and will serve your purpose in any scenario. The .357 really hammers its target and they buck to show that they are stallions. The M66 is built on a light frame for portability and fast action in use. It will show up in the amount of recoil too. They kick on both ends of the barrel and the receiver of that kick is in for a real bad day.

He will feel like he has been kicked and stomped by a rodeo horse and that ain't all metaphor either. This gun will put down a pit bull with a single round: ask me how I know.

Examine the lines of the weapon, it is all business and looks good doing it. Most people consider this as a close-in weapon and stop there. Don't do that, this has stand-off capabilities too. It will shoot a bullet for a long way off: think in terms of 100 yards. That can be done against a pop and flop target and it is fun. It takes skill, but it is doable and I have done so with a 9mm.

I personally can fast-fire a .357, because I took the time to teach myself how to. Whether you shoot slow or shoot fast: you are going to have twisting of the hand to deal with and bucking. You can handle it if you are stout; but even if you are not, you can learn to love the gun. Take your time, don't give up in a hurry, make some good targets and blast them.

Let me give you a fine example. Take a milk jug and cut a big hole in the top, but keep the handle fer totin'. Stuff it full of newspaper or ripped-up old phone books. Now put it in your kitchen sink and drown it with water. Soak it good and leave it there, go do something else for a while. Come back in an hour and soak it again (leave it over-night for the best soak). Keep stuffing it until you can't fit any more in: repeat the soaking.

When it is wet through and through, take it and pour off any remaining water. Notice that you have made a perfect close-up target and it is portable too. When you are ready to shoot it, you can just put it in your car and take it to wherever you need to take it. Make as many as needed, find some old bleach bottles or something.

If you can do so safely, shoot it from real up-close, about 10 feet away. Put a bullet right into its kisser and watch what happens. It won't fall over or blow-up in your face: TV antics not withstanding. No--but it will blow a big hole right through the jug and paper. You will be impressed at the results. I could fit my thumb into the hole in mine: up to the second joint .

I have a picture in my mind to this day. That gives me the confidence to know that: what I shoot will suffer deep damage.

Now it does not have to be a M66 to do it, any .357 Mag will do it. But I sure would like to do it with a M66 myself. I did it with a Speed Six Ruger, another beauty and another story. No special ammo is needed, go get some CCI Blazer. It has aluminum for a case and it is one-use, toss-out. No need for brass cases, but the Blazer is harder to eject from the chambers. But it ain't that much harder, you will do fine. It does need to be a 125 or 158 grain hollow point bullet though, generally speaking.

If you get a M66 somewhere, I will be envious. But I will get over it and my point of writing this is tell you about the gun. Have fun boys and girls,but learn the rules beforehand. Most of it is common sense rule wise. If you don't want to kill it, don't point the gun towards it. There you have the heart of gun safety rules.

Please follow the web address to see more of them. The next weapon is a beauty, with fancy wood grips. With the .357, practice makes perfect. It can be hard to shoot well but it is worth the trouble. With one of these, I would not be afraid of anything on city streets. I would not be afraid of most animals either: up to and including bears and lions. But then, the part of me that fears, has pretty well had it with most things. They better keep their distance.

Walking Around

A funny story ensues, trust me.
I was walking around a new neighborhood yesterday, to see what was there. I like to go to church and I was looking at the location and times of one. It was in the midst of the projects (to better serve the damned of the area.) One of the damned lived right next door to it and took great offense at my prying eyes. A proximal account is this: WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT MY HOUSE!! YOU STUPID @#*&^%!! etc.

His words are unutterable by a Christian. He wanted to know what my retarded self was gaping at. I did not reply and I took his vituperation with gritted teeth. Christ ordered each and all followers of His to turn the other cheek; should an enemy strike you. I do that, I live the life: I do not just talk the talk.

However, I know how to wrestle better than most. I learned it growing up with my brother. He is as strong as a moose and he nearly strangled me, more than once. That led to a lot of storming about and landing ineffective blows on him. Which in turn led him to strangle me some more. (Ha, ha, the joyous rapture of youth; long gone and well recalled!)

The short version of this story is, that I have learned how to perform the sleeper hold in wrestling--yes, there really is such a technique. I have done it. I know other things too, my life has been an eclectic hodge-podge of things. Some useful, some not. It is useful and cathartic to write the following.

Fools will always be about, there is nothing to do but acknowledge it and keep it in mind. On the other hand, men like me will always be around too. Ah yes, it is a philosophical treatise all by itself.

Motor mouth is free to lay hands on me anytime of his choosing. He will never forget it. I do not bow to tyrants of any persuasion. It is better to die and be done with it. If I live, I live--if I die, I die. I will not cower and quaver to punks.

I will not tire you with You Tube examples, you can do a search as well as I can. Have someone who knows how a wrist-lock is done, perform it on you. Allow yourself to be put into a joint-lock. It is very difficult to extract yourself once you are entrapped. It can be excruciating and irresistible too. Kids, try this at home: take some classes in Aikido. You may thank me later.

Bad Advice And Good Advice

Friends, I love you--sight unseen and that is why I write these posts.
I read an article at AOL, wherein Michelle Obama presented her advice: it was about what we can learn from the shooting in Arizona. In the article she wandered hither and yon about the lessons contained therein. At no point did she touch upon anything but using it to learn service to others. It was rotten advice and in some ways it taught cowardice.

She did not recommend taking any action to stop the killer. If I have my facts right, the killer was rushed and subdued by attendees of the event. He was also on the cusp of being shot by others in the plaza. There are a lot of people packing rods in Arizona. That guy is fortunate that he was not killed on the spot. In my estimation he is a fool.

Yesterday I read about another tragedy, it was in Australia and I began to cry. I couldn't help it, the first tragedy was enough to break my heart. The lesson taken from both tragedies is this: the courage to give ones life, so that others can live may be needed in some circumstances. It was very moving and both stories taken together, were too much. A boy gave his life so that his brother would live: his mother went with him: she was swept away too. She tried to save him and that demonstrates the power of love.

The contrast between a killer and that family is astounding. Who can plumb the depths that separates hate from love? But it was demonstrated for all the world to see. We all have to draw our own conclusions from it. The wise man will comprehend, the fool will not. But it has been that way from the beginning of the Earth: and nothing will change it.

My advice is to be brave and to love your neighbor as yourself. To give ones life in order that others may live, is the ultimate in love and courage. That is a hard thing and 99% of the people you see do not have it. I can only hope that I have that courage within me. I can never know until tested by events and circumstances. It is one thing to write about it, it is another thing to do it.

In closing, I am not an armchair quarterback. I believe in those things which I write and post. I have God awaiting me when I die and I will not go there as as a craven wretch.

A Holdup At A Gas Station In North Carolina

The moral of this story is, they got what they deserved.

Early one evening, an armed man entered a rural gas station and demanded money. The station owner was carrying a gun, and he and the would-be robber began firing at each other. When it became clear that he needed backup, the suspect ran out to the getaway car, and then a second shooter entered the firefight.

The owner then retrieved another handgun he had stashed and stood his ground. The first shooter was found dead in the car of gunshot wounds, the other fled into a nearby forest. The station owner was not injured. (The News & Observer, Micro, NC, 10/16/10)

Don't Be This Guy

This is a dumb human stunt. I can't tell if the round penetrated the vest, I am assuming that it did not. Even so, he would have a broken rib with blunt force trauma, in my estimation. That would take a long time to heal and be very painful. Don't do this at home boys and girls.

All vests are rated as to protection levels. Some are rated for pistol calibers and some for rifles. This one may have passed their test: but that was a dumb way to do it. All they had to do was read the paperwork that came with it, or look it up on the web.

To do a live test, they could have laid it against sand bags and fired at it. They sure did not think it through: since the round could have killed him outright.

Spooky, Weird Places

I have been to at least three of those and I never see it coming. It has happened in St. Louis, Charlotte and Cincinatti. I am taking about places that suddenly look ominous and foreboding and dangerous.

The first one was in St. Louis while I was driving through. Being a cheapskate, I would sleep in my car when I went on long drives. It was something that I did a lot of. I pulled into a rest area there and I noticed three guys sitting and lolly-gagging around the hood of their car. I shut off my engine and thought it out: sleep here or somewhere else?

These Hellions appeared to be high as a kite, but the thing that stood out was; they didn't seem to care if they lived or died. Thinking it over, I decided to leave and nothing came of it. I had a .44 Mag Super Blackhawk under my seat, so I was well able to put up a fight. That is a single action cowboy gun and I took it with me on trips. The year was ca. 1981.

In chronological order, the next one was in Charlotte. I walked with my neice to one of her freinds houses. It was a long walk and when we got there, an open-air drug market was in progress. Seems that is what went on a lot during the night-time hours. We went to her freinds house and she visited. The freind was weird in her own right, she stood at the kitchen window looking out at the goings-on. While she stood there, she began to diddle herself. It just seemed to be the thing to do I guess.

So after a while we left and walked back through the courtyard/drugmarket. My neice noticed a penny or two on the ground and reached down to pick them up. One of the dealers started to yelp out, " Hey, are you picking up my rocks?!" And then he began to shadow us while asking that question. I stopped after about fity feet and I looked at him. I told him that she didn't have any of his rocks.

She blurted out nervously that she didn't have them. We went back and forth that way for a minute or two, and it was tense. He had a gun after all and was a dope seller. Well I had a gun myself, it was a .45 Automatic Colt and I wasn't afraid of what he might do. He must have picked up on my body language or he saw the gun, because we walked off untouched. The year was ca. 1988.

The next one was in Cincinatti as I was driving an ambulance. My partner and I have begun from Huntington WV and we were going to pick up a patient. Then we were going to take him back to WV. As we were going through Cincy, we had our windows down to catch the night air, it was cool. Suddenly, the neighborhood changed, it went from nice to weird. There were people walking all over the place, some of them were noticeably happy to be there. I was in another ghetto neighborhood and these folks were milling about all over the place. It had to be the most nefarious looking place that I have been to yet.

So, I asked my partner if he had his knife and he did. I went into my ditty bag and pulled out my Buck hunting knife and took it out of it case. I told him, "Don't roll the windows up. If someone comes over here and sticks his hand in the window, let him have it." So there we were, two white boys going through the ghetto with the windows down. I was gaping in dis-belief, but I was not going to demonstrate any fear. We made it to the hospital and nothing came of it.

I mentioned the neighborhood to the doctor and he said, "Oh, you went through there?" Then he shrugged it off, but he was in obvious fear of "there". While we were at the hospital, I used some hand sanitizer, the kind that hospitals hang on the wall for personel. I thought the stuff was going to take the hide right off my hand. It was that strong. The year was ca. 2001.

My point is, you never know when or where you are going to roll into a nuthouse of a neighborhood. So, be like me, have a little something for Frankenstein. That is what I have learned from it all. I have not learned how to avoid dangerous places, because I never know where I am going to end up. I am a little envious of those sly souls who always manage to avoid a bad situation. The have something that I lack: it may be a sense that they have. I like to call it cravenness, but maybe I am wrong. Maybe I am the foolish one after all.

Truth is, I have been to more than three and one was very recent. I don't want to appear any more foolish than I have already though, so I won't illustrate those.

Always Remember: There Are Men Like This

Sayeret Mat'kal

Otherwise known as General Staff Recon and more popularly as "The Unit", was formed in 1957 by an Officer by the name of Avraham Arnan. He petitioned the IDF General Staff to create a unit that could be dispatched to enemy held territory to carry out top secret intelligence gathering missions.

The unit was initially based on the examples set forth by the SAS. Member of the unit were trained by Bedouin trackers on the finer points of looking and thinking like an Arab. In 1959, a draftee named Ehud Barak was accepted into Sayeret Mat'Kal. He later succeeded the original Mat'kal leader, Lt. Meir Har-Zion, became Israel's most decorated soldier, and then went on to become the IDF Chief of Staff. Barak has a great influence on Sayeret Mat'kal. He was a highly innovative soldier, charismatic and brave. His presence inspired confidence in his soldiers and gave rise to a talented crew of operators that became a deadly and effective force.

Although a top-secret unit, Sayeret Mat'kal had a tremendous influence on the IDF. They were the original developers of helicopter infiltration techniques in Israel. In addition, their heavy use of the Uzi led them to convinced Israel Military Industries to produce an Uzi with a folding stock for increased accuracy while maintaining its small frame. They saw extensive action along the fronts of the 1967 Six Day War; many of Israel's warfighting successes before and during this conflict are evidence of their presence and abilities.

Sayeret Mat'kal has participated in many anti and counter-terrorist operations, including the storming of a Boeing 707 held by Black September terrorists in 1972 and the killing of a force of bus hijackers in the Gaza Strip. They are probably best know for their actions in the 1976 rescue of 106 passengers at Entebbe Airport in Uganda. There have been rumors linking them with several recent operations but these have never been confirmed by the IDF.

Members of Sayeret Matkal go through one year and 8 months of training before they are fully qualified as Matkal commandos. The best of the new recruits go to Unit 269, a part of Sayeret Matkal that specializes in counter-terrorism operations. Unit 269 is responsible for counter-terrorism activities outside of Israel and operates with the Israeli Navy's Flotilla 13 regularly.

Two Excellent books that provide hard-to-find information on Matkal are "Israeli Special Forces" and "The Illustrated Guide to the World's Top Counter-Terrorist Forces", both by Samuel M. Katz.

Iron sharpens iron, we have this type of unit in America and they collaborate with the Israels and British. The SAS (Special Air Service) has been pivotal in the development of SpecWar all over the world. That includes our dear friend Israel. These units are better than Russia's Spetznaz; and they are better than China and North Korea's Special Purpose Forces.

How America Changes The World

For those of you who know knives, you know what this is. It is a Leatherman or a Gerber, isn't it? For those who do not know knives, this is called a pocket tool and other things, by Americans.

For those of you in Switzerland, this is called a Victorinox. It is from the famous maker of Swiss Army knives and it is an admission of something. It is an admission that the Swiss Army knife has been bettered, and it was done by an American company. That company is called Leatherman and it began life as a pocket tool, with no other product that I know of. The very name Leatherman became synonymous with this type of implement: the name became a noun, used as a nomenclature for that class of things.

I knew that the Swiss were going to make one, they had no choice in the matter. This type of tool outclasses the Swiss knife and it does so by a long stretch. I don't know how long that the Swiss have made one and it must have been galling to them. Just as Ford changed cars and Gates made typewriters obsolete, this changed their model of things.

That is my small example of how America changes things. You may still want to get a Gerber or Leatherman. This tool costs $130, that is pretty expensive and it is your call as to its value. It may be the Mercedes of pocket tools for all I know. I certainly would not want to lose one, I know that. This one is called Spirit Road Tour, that is useful to know: because there are a whole lot of them listed there.

There are some Leatherman's listed at this site for about $40, such as the Blast. And they go up from there until they are as expensive as the Swiss model. They must be really good stuff to cost that much, I wonder if they can whistle Dixie. :)

They seem to do everything else and they would be a handy thing to have around.

A Butcher Knife And A Cop

Have you ever thought about what a butcher knife could do to you? The easy answer is that, it can dismember you. I'll bet that it was on the cops' mind when he shot the guy. I am sure that the guy had his reasons, but when a cop tells you to drop it, then drop it. The fight is over unless you keep it going. The fight is doubly over when the cop has pistol and will use it. Most cops will and I don't blame them, I would to.

TAMPA — An officer stopped an attack with a butcher knife outside St. Joseph's Children's Hospital by shooting and injuring the attacker Tuesday night, police said.

The altercation began when Tampa police got a call that the drivers of two vehicles near the hospital were shouting at each other in traffic. Officer Alexander Moreno responded and couldn't find the fight, so he checked with hospital security. When he came outside at 9:55 p.m., the attack was in progress, police said.

The father of a 16-year-old girl at the hospital, Yoel Leon, 41, was slashing with a knife at Carlos Lao, 27, of West Palm Beach, who police said is the boyfriend of Leon's estranged wife.
Moreno ordered Leon to drop the knife — but when he continued attacking, the officer shot him, police said. Leon was taken to the emergency room and was reported in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. Lao was not injured.

Moreno, 26, is a newly-hired Tampa police officer. He previously had 3.5 years experience with the Largo Police Department. Moreno was placed on administrative leave while the investigation is under way. No charges had been filed Tuesday night.

A Funny Story During My Paratrooper Days

I tended to ride a 10 speed mountain bike to and from my NG drills. And I would be in uniform as I did it. On one occasion, I was wheeling back to the house with a fellow loon. A car eased up beside of us and some wretch started cussing us out. He despised the notions of bicycles being in his way or something.

It went something like this, !*$*&@!&!&!*&OH**^8^%%!!, etc. Yeah, he had a mouthful that day. I was chagrined, let me tell ya. My cohort simpleton asked me -- " Do you want to go after them? ". As a matter of fact, I did want to: so we sped-up our pedaling and tried to sneak-up on them at a red light. They saw us coming and took off and that was the smartest thing that they did that day.

Ya know why? Ha, ha: silly me, I was going to put my bike right through their windsheild. That is why it was smart of them to vamoose. Me and my buddy were going to apply them to the road surface -- should they have been reckless enough to exit the car. HA, HA!! See, boys and girls, life can be fun!!

They were stupid enough to run their mouth -- that was a really dumb move -- and we were tough enough to make 'em regret it. I personally was going to give someone a lifetime supply of iron: should they have exited the vehicle with weapons. Yep: BAMMO: bike shoved down throat.

HA, HA!! Yes, fun was assured for both sides. Of course for those of you wise enough to avoid leaning out of your window and trash-talking: this advice is un-needed. Be careful what you do, you can never be sure who you are doing it to.

At least that is my motto. Especially if the chosen victim is in a BDU uniform and wearing a maroon beret. That particular beret had a blue flash and an insignia that said De Oppresso Libre on it. I would have stuffed my fist right down his loud mouth. At the end of the day, he would have had a new appreciation of the Airborne in general. And he would have had a notable fear of the Special Forces soldier in particular.

Rest assured ladies and gentlemen, there are still men in America. A whole bunch of them have worn the maroon beret. I like myself that way. Those that bark up the wrong tree should be warned. But they never are and they never will be.

Being Airborne

Upon arrival at my unit, the 19th SF; in WV; I began jumping with them. I was always a strange one: some jumps were as easy as cake: others were as hard as could be.

For the most part I jumped from Hueys at circa 1250 AGL ( Above Ground Level ). I used T-10C chutes if I remember right. That is a semi-steerable one, it has a couple of panels removed and toggles added. That really speeds up the turns with a chute. It let me dump air too, if I wanted to get away from a crowd.

Getting away from people is a good idea if you are a jumper. Entanglements have killed more than their share of men. Here is what that is, two jumpers get tangled into each other. That always ends in a catastrophe: neither chute is steerable then. A fatal situation can be averted, but not assured if that happens.

I managed to not have that happen to me, but here is something that did. I was jumping at night, on a night with a full moon. I was thinking about life's problems and being irritated in general.

I was not paying rapt attention to where I was though. For some reason that I will never quite figure out I turned my chute hard left. Right there in front of my baby browns was a dirt road and I screamed into it. It was that quick!

I turned the chute, I saw the road, I said OH BOY!!! and POW!!! I hit the road, heard my ankle snap and then I bounced of of my coccyx. I laid there a few seconds, looked at my leg and let out a wail! That hurt like heck! And my foot was laying sideways. #&%( )&^$@

Someone yelled out, " Are you hurt? Where are you? "
I yelled out-- "I broke my leg!! " Someone came to me, there are always watchers on the ground any time a jump is made. He came over to console me and I was unusually calm, considering things. We chatted while the ambulance came, there is always an ambulance there too. He asked me what happened and since I wasn't going anywhere, I calmly told him. Turn--ground--bam!

So, I went to the hospital and had surgery to repair what I busted. It took me about 6 months to, more or less recover from that stupid stunt. But, you know -- it happens. That is one reason that you get to wear a maroon beret, you are taking chances.

Let me assure you, fatal incidents occured within the unit while I was there. For instance, one of the SF tabbed guys went to Ft. Bragg to do a jump. He went into the wires on a night jump and was electrocuted.

On a lighter note, the unit did a PR jump in Charelston WV during the Regatta. We whopped, whopped, whopped up into the air and jumped into the Kanawha River. We had water wings so that we would float and it was a thrill- a - minute the whole way down. The chopper went to altitude and banked for the approach. Interstate 64 was close-by the river and it was a terror just to look out of the bird.

The jumpmaster started smacking each jumper and yelling GO to each man in turn! I thought, OMG--my stupid self is dead this time. I had this enormous vision of the Interstate looming and this small picture of a river to land in. It looked tiny! But I made up my mind before I even joined the unit to never refuse to jump. So out the door I went in my turn, just like the other imbeciles.

I prayed all the way down, it was the scariest thing that I have ever done. Once I got close to the river and determined that I was going to live and not die; things were better. I hit the water, splooosh. The crowd was ooooing and ahhhing, they knew real men when they saw them!! I was pulled into a Zodiak which was there recovering the bodies--er, uh, the jumpers. We were taken to shore and I lived to tell about it.

Then I was told to get back in the boat, since I was part of the recovery team. All of the guys were given chances to jump and I don't think anyone refused. Such is your average paratroop though, they don't go in to sit and watch. I have to say that some of the bravest guys that I have ever met, were in the Airborne.

It ain't for show folks. They are the Marines of the air, they go where few men dare to go. Some consider the Airborne to be a bunch of lunatics with a death wish. The Airborne and the Marines; both attract those with a penchant for danger, that is for certain. Neither of them is full of lunatics though. They just tend to be outspoken sorts.

America has some of the best guys that there are and it is a good thing too. Since America has some of the most resolute of enemies, she needs the most resolute of men to defend her. That unit has been in constant action since the beginning of hostilities with Al-Quaida.

Going Airborne

I went Airborne at the age of 37. Trust me, it was a tough haul to get through it. I had 17 year old kids running circles around me. I had guys who were headed for Special Forces Assessment and Selection. I had guys who were headed for Ranger School: and so on. I am certain that there were BUDS candidates mixed in there somewhere.

I had Rangers cutting through the sky overhead with steerable chutes: They were performing HALO jumps. They had big crowds of us watching them too.

I had former high school football players making a mockery out of the runs. It was irritating. That is because the runs were making a mockery out of me. I practised for the course by running 7 minute miles for 3 miles at a whack. I ran 12 or 15 miles a week to get in shape.

Now let me tell you about Fort Benning in May: it is hot and humid. Those 3 mile runs were kicking my butt! They used those runs to cull the class size and it was a good devise. Fall out of 3 of them and you failed the course!

But I made it and I put on my Airborne Beret when I got back to my unit. I earned that son-of-a-gun and I would kick somebodies butt if they dis-respected it. ( But that is another story and I will tell it at another time. )

Now, here I am at 55 and I am about to do it again. This time, I am going to do it in a metaphorical sense: It will be just as hard though.
I am going to go back to school and get my Baccalaureate.

I am going to begin this week at the local college. This will be no easy task for me. I have diabetes and 3 other serious thing wrong with me now. This is going to be as hard as jump school ever was. The time needed is going to weary me, I am sure. But it starts this week. I will let you know how I am doing.

Here is a story about how things can go bad, right at home. Look at the time-- it is in the middle of the night-- 1:45 AM. The crooks will use deep night to their advantage, so be ready at any time.
As a note, a 7.62 caliber rifle includes a lot of territory. An SKS is a 7.62 MM and it is a pretty good gun to have around the house. That rifle would have performed as the one in the article. It will blaze a trail right through the biggest and baddest.

The shooting at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, left two men with multiple gunshot wounds, identified Monday as Steven Deshaun Davis, 23, of Middletown, and John Eric Robinson, 27, of Lebanon.

Davis was pronounced dead at University Hosptial in Cincinnati, where Robinson remained a patient Monday. Early Sunday, the two men allegedly broke into the home of Gregory K. Gabbard, 38, in the 1100 block of Beissinger Road, to rob him.

"We believe the (resident) knew at least one of them," said Chief Deputy Anthony Dwyer of Butler County Sheriff's Office. Robinson faces charges that likely will include aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery, Dwyer said.

Dwyer said Gabbard was compliant with the intruders, but that he "felt imminent danger coming his way." That's when Gabbard went to another room and returned with a 7.62 mm caliber semi-automatic rifle. Dwyer said one of the suspects fired at least one round from a small caliber handgun before it jammed.

( Note: I italicized that for good reason. The bad guy did not have sense enough to gauge the danger of the situation. Using a small pistol against a large rifle is always a bad idea. That seems to be what happened here. )

"It was a fluid, volatile crime scene," Dwyer said. "Gabbard's version lines up forensically."
Outside the house, red footprints and drops of blood could be seen by the stairs and basement door.

Both Davis and Robinson have criminal records through Butler County Common Pleas Court. Davis was charged in 2004, at age 17, for attempted burglary. Robinson has seven closed cases, ranging from drug trafficking to carrying a concealed weapon.

Lighting Up A Killer In Flint Michigan

This can happen to you, right here in modern America, and it is spreading. That in itself is a bitter social commentary. I remember an era when I did not lock my door, even when I was not home. That is because no one tried to walk in or break in. The lock being the social prohibition against theft; the mind was locked-in against it and you just did not do it. Now look at things, you are not safe friends and anyone who tells you that you are, is a liar.

FLINT (WJRT) -- (08/05/10) -- A Flint home owner has shot three would-be robbers, killing one of them.

It all happened just before 11 Wednesday night on Sally Court near Susan Street. Police say one man was standing in his driveway, talking to a friend, when five men walked up to him in what was apparently an attempted robbery.

One of those men had a gun, and the man in driveway had his own gun.The home owner apparently shot three of them, killing one.Police say both of the other wounded men are in good condition.

Why Guns Matter

I am posting this because it matters. Don't think that it can't happen here. The Second Amendment is all that keeps such things at bay, right here in America.

Many of those in the camps are traumatised by their ordeal
The BBC's Rayhan Demytrie reports from a refugee camp inside Uzbekistan, where ethnic Uzbeks are giving their accounts of how they fled violence in neighbouring Kyrgyzstan.

Uzbekistan says it is shutting its border with Kyrgyzstan and will not be able to accept more refugees fleeing the ethnic conflict in southern Kyrgyzstan. The Red Cross says more than 80,000 refugees have already crossed and up to 15,000 are still massing in the border areas.

At one border area in Kyrgyzstan, thousands of people have been making their way to neighbouring Uzbekistan through a hole in the barbed wire. Plastic bottles, broken shoes and other belongings scattered along the route indicate the way they hurried to make their way to safety.

A few minutes' walk from the border area, past a police cordon and rows of ambulances, is a refugee camp. Under large green tents, there are dozens of beds covered with mattresses. Resting in the shade of the tents are women, children and the elderly.

In one tent was a breastfeeding mother, who told us how she had to run for safety with her five-day-old baby."In the maternity ward in Osh, we were told that the Kyrgyz were coming. Everybody had to run away, even those who were in labour."

The makshift refugee camps have been set up along the border
Many people in the camp have a story to tell about what's been happening in the past few days in Osh. Eighteen-year-old Ikramjon's face is covered with green-coloured antiseptic. He says he was injured when a gas appliance exploded in a house which had been set on fire.

"The day before it all began, the Kyrgyz escorted their women and children away. Towards the evening, cars with no number plates were driving around and shooting at Uzbeks. The following day the military came, and they also started shooting at Uzbeks. We've been defending our neighbourhood but they broke through and started shooting at people."

In the next tent, an elderly woman, Ergasheva Muminahon, is in tears. "My 85-year-old husband was left behind. I have five children and I cannot find any of them here, I am the only soul from our family sitting here. What have we done to those Kyrgyz? Why have they tortured us so much? "A white-bearded old man sitting next to her asks: "How can a government be so irresponsible? Can the international community help?"

Most of the refugees have questions to which no-one can give an answer. The majority of women are worried about their husbands, brothers and sons who stayed behind in Osh to defend their homes. They don't even know whether they are alive. 'Save us from this shooting'.

Those who have fled their homes face an uncertain future
A lot of people are deeply traumatised by what they have been through. One distressed woman was telling her account of events through tears. "My next-door neighbour in Stalin neighbourhood was shot dead. They came in APCs (armoured personnel carriers), those who tried to stop them were shot dead on the spot. We barely made our way out of the neighbourhood, carrying our babies, trying to cross through deep ditches.

"Uzbeks have no weapons, but the Kyrgyz are all armed. All our homes are burnt down - let them be burnt but save our men. Save us from this shooting." Most of the people in the refugee camp are desperate for help. They do not know when they will be able to go back, or whether living alongside ethnic Kyrgyz will be possible in the future.

On the way back, as we approached the Kyrgyz side of the border, we saw hundreds of other ethnic Uzbeks lining up, desperate to cross into Uzbekistan for safety. One elderly woman was sitting on the ground on a dusty road. An injured man lay on a stretcher nearby. Dozens climbed on to concrete blocks chanting "yordam, yordam" - "help" in Uzbek.

Everybody is agitated, and when people see journalists they are so desperate to tell their account that they all talk simultaneously. There is a cacophony of desperate voices: "They've dishonoured (raped) our girls"; "You have to help us, they've killed and burnt our children"; "I saw with my own eyes a five-year-old girl lying dead."

These people are in urgent need of help. They do not know who can protect them or where they can find shelter. Most of the houses on the Kyrgyz side of the border have been overwhelmed with women and children. The summer heat is making it even more difficult - there are no washing facilities and maintaining hygiene is a big problem. The majority of people say so far they have not received any humanitarian aid.

Home Schooling

I am home schooled, I taught myself by reading. It is a long, bitter story and and I will share it with you.
When I was 14 years old, I quit school. That is because I could not see a minutes peace at the place. I am not one to be punched on and pulled at, in a quest for entertainment and enjoyment. That is what was happening to me at school. It became one fight after another and I just gave up and went home: never to return.

Luckily, you can read and you have some skill in English as well. Have you read the Koran or any part of it? I have and if you are the typical Muslim of the World, I have read more of it than you have. I am not the typical American and I do not care if my letter offends you. I understand how Islam is militant,because I have been a militant. If this insults you and Islam, I don't care.

I am, as I write this a militant Christian and I know what that is. The love of Christ is in me now and I do not hate anyone. You cannot say that and you never will as a Muslim. This letter is not meant to prosteltyze you or to change your mind.

Do you know where all of this is headed? It is inexorably headed to a war, with Islam pitted against Christianity and Judaism. Islam will get what they desire, a war with the unbelievers. Sadly,that is how it will end. The wars will be Nuclear and Biological and Chemical ( NBC ) in nature. I can only believe what my senses are telling me about this. That and the book of Revelation, found at the end of The Holy Bible.

My Letter To President Obama

I was at the ADL site and I saw this letter. I signed it and sent it to the White House with my full name and address attached. I would not want any vagueness or anything.
It seems that one must hit President Obama over the head with a hammer, in order for the message to get through. We as Americans can stand with our friend Israel, as men. Or we can shirk back into a grey area and hide, until it is our turn. Hamas hates America and wants nothing less than its destruction.
President Obama regales at being in the grey area, it is a safe place for him. He should read the Charter of Hamas and get a good dose of black and white for once. If he read it,he would not take it seriously. He thinks that he can talk to those murdering bastards and make everything better.

The actions of the members of the flotilla were clearly designed to provoke action by Israeli Military forces. The IDF made repeated attempts to avoid confrontation with the flotilla and offered to deliver the supplies to Gaza. The offer was refused by the flotilla members.

Mr. President, I urge you to speak out for Israel's right to defend itself and to conduct its own full and fair investigation of the events.

A cab driver in Northwest England is said to have killed 12 people and wounded 25 others, despite the incredibly strict British gun control laws:
According to news reports, 52 year old Derrick Bird allegedly shot dead a colleague in the town of Whitehaven, then methodically drove through the countryside, shooting 36 additional victims at more than 30 separate crime scenes. After the killing spree, Mr. Bird committed suicide, and his body was found in a wooded area along with a shotgun and a rifle, according to police.

British gun laws are among the toughest in the world, with handguns and many other firearms having been banned outright (even the Olympic pistol team must leave the country to practice their sport). Citizens who wish to lawfully own a shotgun, which is one of the few guns that can still be owned, are required to have a certificate issued by their local chief of police. Applicants must prove to the police that they have “good reason” for wanting the gun, are fit to own a gun, and that public safety will not be endangered. Police must personally interview every applicant and later visit their home to check that the gun is stored in a secure locker. Those individuals who violate the gun control laws – even by using a gun in self defense against violent home invaders – face severe penalties.

Yet none of these laws prevented today’s mass killing spree. indeed, this is not the first time that I’ve written about the failure of British gun control laws to disarm criminals. To name a few cases, I’ve written about a pregnant British woman being raped by an armed home invader, and a British postal worker who was fatally shot by an armed robber. I’ve mentioned how a British bicycle rider was gunned down, and how teenagers are often shot in London these days. I’ve discussed how a former boxing champion and father of 2 young children was fatally shot in a smoke-free nightclub after politely asking a violent individual to stop smoking indoors. Moving beyond those anecdotal evidence, crime statistics show a 40% increase in handgun related crime in the first two years after the British banned handguns. In sum, British gun control has failed to disarm the criminals, who get their guns on the black market – or simply manufacture their own illegal guns.

Rather than protecting British citizens, British gun control laws instead ensure that murderous criminals will have a monopoly on guns. Common sense should make clear the fact that a person bent on killing as many people as they can before committing suicide won’t think twice about the penalties for violating a gun control law. On the other hand, the law abiding people (who weren’t going to commit mass murder in the first place) will obey the law, as they don’t wish to tarnish their good names with a criminal conviction. The result is that the violent criminals are armed, while their victims are defenseless.

Had just one of the Cumbria killing spree victims been armed self defense, this tragedy may well have been averted – just as happens in the United States when crime victims are armed. Instead, the law abiding British citizens were gunned down, one by one, having been left defenseless by a misguided law that does more harm than good.

Remember, guns allow the elderly, the disabled, and the physically weaker to defend themselves against violent attackers, rather than being overpowered. They allow women to defend themselves and their children, instead of becoming domestic violence statistics. Guns also allow a single person to successfully defend themselves against multiple attackers, who would otherwise be able to use their numerical advantage to deadly effect.

Russia Will Not Remain A Free Country

I remember when Boris Yeltsin led Russia to freedom.He was a pretty good guy I suppose,even if he is remembered as a drunk.All of the promises of freedom were there and hope was sky high.Beneath the surface were things that were unforseen.
Things like:
Russia did not have too much in the way of useful industry.
The people had been ruined by decades of Communism and did not understand the free market.
America abandoned Russia to its own devices and became a mere cheerleader.

That is still pretty much the case as far as I can tell.Here is what I predict as the future of Russia:it will become a raider nation.Just like Germany did,it will take what it does not have.It will re-order itself as a military power that cannot be stopped.Then it will set its eyes upon things that it wants.

It does not have a warm water port for instance and it will go looking for that.It does not have the fabulous riches of Saudi Arabia and it will go looking for that.The Russians have a long standing hatred of the Jews and it will look for a way to invade Israel.

They will show their muscule by using their army to get what they want.They will not do it all alone either.There will be others with them,such as some of the old Eastern Bloc nations.

I have noticed and I sense it deep down, that there is a confusion in America. I mean that as, a state of constant turmoil. It is as if everyone has an opinion and a compelling need to say it, or live it. It doesn't matter what is being discussed, someone will feel the need to offer their two cents.

Disagree with homosexual rights? Then there are leigons of loudmouths to attest that YOU are a creep bastard. Not only that,but you should not be allowed to say those things. I disagree with homosexual rights,it is a very destuctive way of life. The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is there for a reason. It is in the book of Genesis too,right there at the start of the Bible.

A nation that engenders confusion and discord is destined to die.A house divided cannot stand,Jesus said that.For proof of that doctrine,I give you the Confederacy.That was not a noble cause,it was death and destruction personified.Yet,even with the Civil War having been waged and the South destroyed;there are people today that fly thier flag.

To test whether there is confusion in the land, ask these simple questions to whomever you like: they should be common knowledge: Where was Gettyburg fought? Have you ever heard of Bull Run? Those were major battles in the Civil War and it is not like you pulled the questions out of the thin air. Don't even get me started on the Revolutionary War.Ask a knowledgeable person,what it was that Benedict Arnold did to become a traitor. I am giving those as examples because of the ignorance that I have seen: ignorance seems to fit hand in glove with confusion.

There is an endless stream of opinions here in America. It seems to be a reciprocal to ignorance. To have an opinion is to be human,to be adamant and to hate any opposing opinion is destructive. The college campuses are filled with opposition to American ideals. The students are taught to hate Washington and Jefferson as white men with slaves. In some ways, a typical professor is one of the dumbest people that you will ever meet. Remember that the next time that you take a test.

We do not have a healthy debate going on in America. We have something that leads to authoritarian leaders. That in turn will lead to a totalitarian leader. What Germany called for after being ravaged by World War One and the Great Depression was: give us peace and safety at any cost.
Confusion? Think about a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread costing $10,000. That happened in Germany.

World War One set up Hitler to rule in Germany and Lenin in Russia. The nations followed much the same path and became socialist.Hitler and Stalin did not become socialist because the nation did. The nation became socialist because thier leaders were socialist.

Now there is a significant group of the population in America who think that socialism is just fine. Socialism caused Germany and Russia to embrace in a death spiral. The agreement to co-operate between Hitler and Stalin,set up WWII. They invaded Poland at the same time,from different directions.

I am in dread and terror that disorder will happen in America.We can throw off the confusion of freedom--the havoc of "disorder" and embrace "order".To be free requires a bravery,to face the hard things:and not just enjoy the good things.

It takes courage to tell some loud-mouth to shut his yap.You are not going to make friends that way.It takes courage to stand your ground and tell the truth to the best of your ability.I do not see a whole lot of that in everyday life.What I see are people who want to be politically correct or something equally obnoxious.I sure don't see a Christian nation,I see something that I do not recognize.

The something that I see scares me to death in ways. It seems to me that if we keep going this way,destruction is assured. I am not going to close this by using my own words. I am going to use the 8th chapter of proverbs, it is about wisdom and what it is. Proverbs8:36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

That is so succinct and it is the antithesis of the long-winded blather that is so prevalent today. America can die,popular opinion not withstanding. We are going down that road and I do not see the nation turning aside anytime in the future. There are terrifying times in store for us in my estimation.

California Open Carry Of Weapons

I am certain that it is not common knowledge that a weapon can still be carried in California.That is one of the reasons that I write this blog. I want to let others know these things. We are Americans not Europeans,et.al.

We are a gun-using nation and we have been from the start. I like that about America. I hope and pray that this fascist bill goes down in flames. Yes, I said fascist, I know what the word means and this fits the description.

Look at how the Assembly woman describes carrying guns: “Guns are an intimidating presence.” Well, do tell; that being one of the purposes of having one. I want to intimidate the bad guys, I want them to know that it can get ugly. It is not only the bad guy that can ugly-up a situation: the gun carrying citizen needs a means to respond accordingly.

In closing, an unloaded gun can be loaded in short order. The practice is not futile and unavailing, it serves a purpose.

SACRAMENTO — Unloaded guns could no longer be carried openly under legislation advanced by state lawmakers Wednesday.The measure now goes to the full Assembly floor, where it is expected to face a tough fight.
About a dozen advocates of the right to publicly display unloaded firearms testified before the Assembly Appropriations Committee. They said the bill would be costly to enforce and violate their rights to gun ownership.
They also contend that the law is unnecessary because no crimes have ever been linked to the practice. They argue that they are forced to brandish their firearms because local authorities have been reluctant to issue concealed weapons permits, denying them the right to self-protection.

But Assemblywoman Lori Saldana, D-San Diego, argues that displaying guns forces police to respond to calls from concerned citizens, creating costs and posing safety threats because it’s unclear that the weapons are unloaded.
“Guns are an intimidating presence,” Saldana said when introducing her AB 1934 this year. “The average citizen can’t tell the good guys from the bad guys.”
The measure, which the committee passed along party lines 11-5, would not change existing law that allows citizens to carry concealed weapons with a permit. The ban applies to public places.
State law allows citizens to carry an unloaded gun in public view. Bullets can be as close as on the hip opposite a pistol holster.

The Things Inside Of The Human Heart

If I seem drastic with some of my posts,it is due to things like this.The human heart is capable of anything and this proves my point.

SAYREVILLE, N.J. – A body found near a New Jersey river may be that of a 3-month-old girl who police say was thrown off a highway bridge by her father earlier this year.

Sgt. Stephen Jones says clothes and wrappings in which the child were found Saturday are consistent with the descriptions given of 3-month-old Zara Malani-Lin Abdur-Raheem. But he says the baby is considered unidentified until DNA testing or other means can prove her identity.

Police say the baby's father, Shamsid-Din Abdur-Raheem, confessed that he threw the infant off a bridge Feb. 16. They say Abdur-Raheem had snatched the baby from her grandmother's arms several hours earlier while the child's mother was in court getting a restraining order against him.

Abdur-Raheem has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges.

WASHINGTON — Schools may be gun-free zones, but the U.S. Department of Education is locked and loaded.The agency put in an order this month for 27 new short-barreled shotguns to replace some of its aging arsenal.

You didn't know that the Education Department had an arsenal?
The department and other federal agencies have weapons because the Homeland Security Act of 2002 and some earlier laws empowered agents in their offices of inspector general to carry firearms.More than just eagle-eyed numbers crunchers poring over records for waste and fraud involving federal tax dollars, special agents for the inspectors general actually hit the streets to round up the bad guys.

"Major (inspectors general) not only perform audits and review the efficiency of federal programs, they also conduct extensive criminal investigations," said Paul Feeney , a spokesman for the inspector general at the Department of Agriculture . "Many people may not be aware of the dangerous circumstances that agents may encounter."

The 100 inspector general agents at the Education Department are spread between headquarters in Washington and the inspector general's 10 regional offices — in Boston , New York , Philadelphia , Washington , Atlanta , Chicago , Dallas , Kansas City, Mo. , Sacramento, Calif. , and Long Beach, Calif.The agents have all undergone law enforcement and weapons training. Normally they carry .40-caliber Glock pistols. The shotguns come out when they execute search warrants and make high-risk arrests.

Indeed, some of their targets have had violent criminal pasts, according to information provided by the department. However, the agents never have discharged a weapon in the line of duty, the department said.

The Remington 870 12-gauge, 14-inch barrel shotgun ordered by the Education Department is a police favorite. The round's velocity is slow and it spreads out, increasing the chances of hitting the target "in a dynamic, tense situation," said Jim Pasco , the executive directive of the Fraternal Order of Police .

It's also extremely loud."Even people who have never been around one before, when they hear an 870, they know something bad is about to happen," Pasco said.With the country pretty sour on Washington right now, the notion of agencies involved in education and agriculture buying weapons has drawn a predictable reaction on the Web.

It ranges from paranoid — "(President Barack) Obama is arming all the government agencies," wrote one author — to dismissive: "What could these be for?" a contributor to one interactive forum asked. "Putting down rebellions at lunchtime?"

Vanishing Christianity

Majorities of all groups indicated agreement with the statement, "There is life beyond death." But the most significant theological question concerned the exclusivity of the Gospel and the necessity of belief in Jesus Christ for salvation. On that question there was great division, with over a third (36%) of PCUSA church members indicating that they "disagree" or "strongly disagree" with the statement that "only followers of Jesus Christ can be saved."

Among ministers, the division is even more apparent, with 45% of pastors disagreeing with that statement and fully 60% of specialized clergy disagreeing. Roughly 20% of both pastors and specialized clergy reported themselves "neutral or unsure" about the question.

Only 43% of church members disagreed or strongly disagreed with the claim that "all the world's religions are equally good ways of helping a person find ultimate truth."

What is wrong with that word-picture?

What a sad day it is,to see America falling.And what can be done,that has not been done by the true churches?Nothing.The truth is still being preached,but it is losing ground.A lie is taking its place and strong delusion as well.

Some Things That Changed Me

I came across a reference to Anne Frank as I was reading on the Web.It brought to mind some of the things in my life that have changed me.

I was once a leftist,an ideologue in search of the truth.I didn't even know that I was an ideologue:and I still have trouble spelling it.Ideologues are strange creatures given to seeing things in black and white.It either is or it is not.I am no longer quite the fire-breather as I was,having learned about shades of gray.I am much more forgiving.However,in some things I am still adamant.

I want the truth to be told to me and I did not get that as a leftist.They lie on purpose and it is in their credo to do so.Leftists killed Anne Frank,they made it so that she had to live in an attic to evade the leftist Nazis.Hitler hated little ones like Anne and in turn,that makes me hate Hitler.

Yet,before I learned such things about the Nazis,I learned such things about the Communists.Russia and China run red with the blood of the innocent.How fitting that the Communist flag is a field of red.Russia signed a peace treaty with Germany and in tandem they invaded Poland.They divvied it up between them.

Thus,to read The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich is to have an enlightening experience folks.It changed me further and left a mark in me.To watch on TV while Vietnam fell;to see people hanging off of choppers to escape the Communist Army of North Vietnam;it changed me.
To watch shows on TV about the Holocaust and to watch Shindler's List,those sorts of things do not just run off of me like water.Likewise,to review The Gulag Archipelago proved to be a learning experience for me.

Such has been some of the things that have turned me away and made me a real opponent of Socialism.To make the distinction between Communism and National Socialism (Nazi) is to not see the nose on your face.

To tie that in with today,there is a real tendency of some Americans to welcome and embrace Socialism.It is a fatal attraction and some follow it like a moth to the flame.I do not hate those that would turn America in a Socialist paradise,but I sure do oppose them.I will not be a party to my own un-doing,I will not commit hari-cari just to please people.If that really pees off some people,go ahead and be peed off.

I changed in that way too and I don't care if it makes them mad.If it seems strange that I have tied together so many disparate things,I can't help it.All great massacres that occurred in the 20th century were caused by Socialists.Such as World War One,World War Two,The Russian Revolution and Mao's Revolution in China.

How can I fail to oppose such a thought-life?Yet,many have failed to so and they never will change.It is pertinent to me today because there are strong forces trying to take America down the Socialist path.Most of them seem to be in the Democratic Party too.It has been taken over by wolves in sheep's clothing and the old ideologues have found a new home.

Is your name the same as, or similar to, that of someone on the FBI’s “terrorist watchlist?” Or, have you been erroneously placed on the watchlist? You can’t find out because the FBI won’t say exactly why people get watchlisted, won’t say who has been watchlisted, and therefore doesn’t offer watchlisted people the chance to clear their names immediately.

In fact, small children, federal air marshals, military personnel who have fought terrorists overseas, the late Sen. Edward Kennedy, members of Congress, and many other good Americans have even been stopped from boarding commercial aircraft for this reason. The government has reported that there were 700,000 names in the watchlist as of April 2007, and the ACLU estimates that the number has since risen to 1.3 million.

Obviously, these people are not all terrorists. However, politicians who hate the Second Amendment know that some of the good Americans who are erroneously on the list, or who get incorrectly flagged by the list, are gun owners. And, because the FBI won’t reveal its watchlisting criteria, those politicians think that more gun owners can be placed on the list over time, by like-minded bureaucrats making arbitrary determinations about who ought to have guns.

One such politician is Michael Bloomberg, whose hobbies include being mayor of New York City and raising intellectually deficient complaints about gun laws. Never one to concern himself with the facts when there is a chance to get his name in the paper, Bloomberg recently claimed that the recent murders on Ft. Hood would have been prevented if the FBI hadn’t been required to erase NICS-approved gun purchase records after 24 hours.

Mischaracterizing events related to the Ft. Hood murders for political reasons shows disrespect to the lives that were lost there and is crass to the extreme. That said, the reason that the FBI didn’t know about the Ft. Hood suspect’s gun purchase is not that his NICS record was erased after 24 hours. Rather, it’s that he wasn’t on the watchlist in the first place, as NICS checks the list and alerts the FBI if a listed person tries to buy a gun.

Another such politician is Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), author of legislation Bloomberg supports (S. 1317, H.R. 2159 in the House), which would allow the Attorney General to stop watchlisted people from buying guns through NICS. It would also prevent those people from contesting their rejections in a full and open hearing in court. Obviously, that scheme would violate not only the Second Amendment, but also the Fourteenth Amendment’s protection against deprivation of liberty without due process of law.

This week Lautenberg introduced a separate bill (S. 2820), calling for NICS firearm transaction records to be retained for 10 years on a person suspected of being a member of a terrorist organization. That, however, is a smokescreen for another provision in the same bill, to retain NICS records of approved firearm transfers for 180 days for other gun buyers.

While Lautenberg introduced S. 2820 in the wake of Ft. Hood (with terrorism fresh on Americans’ minds), gun control supporters have wanted NICS records retained for longer than 24 hours since NICS’ inception. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), a co-sponsor of the Lautenberg bill, argued in favor of a 180-day retention back in 2001. After all, the Brady Act, as passed by Congress, required that NICS “destroy” the records of approved firearm purchases.

Along with the Lautenberg bills described above, gun control supporters are concurrently campaigning for a law to force all private gun sales to be run through NICS. Connecting the dots is a simple task. The goal shared by gun control supporters and by government entities for whom no amount of knowledge about American citizens is too much, is to incrementally increase the amount of information the government possesses on gun owners who, through no fault of their own, end up on a secret government list.

This is how freedom can be lost.Wolves in sheeps clothing will always be there and they will offer to protect you.Always be suspicious of the motivations of your would-be protectors.Be especially suspicious if Sen. Lautenburg is the author of the law and has Mayor Bloomberg as a proponent.They are long-time enemies of gun ownership.

Hummer and China

Here is something that is very alarming.A very valuable name-brand vehicle has just been bought by the Chinese.General Motors was forced to sell it for some reason and that has me puzzled.That would be the Hummer brand.

A Hummer can do things that the best F-150 or F-650 could not even think about.It is is magic,it can cling to the side of a hill like glue.It can go 80 miles an hour as long as you need it to.It has a large bed and can carry a lot of stuff.
In short,the Hummer was a revolution in vehicles.

We have handed off to our enemies what is the best military truck on Earth.This does not compute.I listened to some guy on talk radio,who insisted that,"It was only the civilian version and not the military one.We still have the military one being made here."

Hello:the civilian one is darn sure capable of military duty.It is merely a smaller version,it is not a watered down one.That is like saying that a Colt .45 Auto is no longer the Army pistol,so it cannot kill you anymore.I have the civilian model of the .45 and it will kill as well as ever.

Since the Chinese will now have the machinery delivered to them;it is thier call as to what size to make the vehicle.Make them small or make them big,they are still Army trucks.

What It Is To Kill

I have killed in self-defense.
I cut his carotid,before he could get me down and run me over with his car.This happened in a deserted parking lot and it was 2 o'clock in the morning.I have never been able to talk about it,without crying.I have a breakdown everytime that I talk about it.

Here is what it is:
It is life or death:then and there.

That it what it is and that is why you should think it over.If you had life or death handed to you,what will you do?Can you kill?Can you fight unto the end?Can you go wherever it takes you?

Most people cannot kill another person:it is not in us to do that.That is:until they try to kill you.Then it is in us and it is in you.

The choice that I was handed was stark:it was do or die.I would have died right there if I had not fought to the death.He had hit me with a metal pipe and nearly knocked me out with it.I had a blood trail about 8 inches long on the side of my head and neck.He got me about 3 or 4 times with that pipe.
When I killed him,it was really bad.His blood gushed out and covered my hand,clear up to the wrist.It blobbed out of his artery:it gushed out.

I looked at him and I said--"You're done!" "You're finished!"

He was laughing and cackling as if it were a game.He did not know that his jugular had just been cut.When he did realize it,he gave me the strangest look.He looked at me in horror and he said--"You!".....He was starkly amazed at the turn of events,since they had turned so soundly against him.

He never finished the sentence,it was a already finished:in his mind and mine.He turned towards his girlfriend and he sceamed out--"HONEY--HELP ME!!".He ran about 15 feet and he was screaming for help;then,he dropped in his tracks and he did not move any more.It was like someone had dropped a puppet.

His girlfriend ran over and started to talk to him.She said--"Honey,lets go home!Honey,let's go home!"

She picked him up and tried to get him up;until she saw all of the blood.Then she knew--he ain't going home.I was screaming at her the whole time and calling her an idiot.She finally got it through to her mind that he was laying right there--dead.

Then she said that she was going to call the Police and I screamed at her to go right ahead.She got in her car and tried to run me over with it.I gave her a look that said--You are next,if you try to kill me.

She took off and got the Police,I was arrested and I spent almost a year in jail.I was in the felony section and everyone knew why.Some of his friends were there too,some of them wanted to kill me.That is how it is;he was a semi-professional criminal and he knew a lot of those.

I went on trial by a Grand Jury and I was acquitted.It took them less than two hours to reach a verdict.I was the first acquittal in 25 years in Cabell County West Virginia.I set a precedent in the State of West Virginia:that is;your home is your car,if you are living in it;and I was.

I did not get off Scott-free though,I had nightmares and I really went through some PTSD kind of things.I am over it now and I am going on with life.I can't live where I used to though.There are people there who want to kill me.So,I moved out there and now I live in a new town.

I am going to enroll in college this summer and begin a degree program.I was living in my car when I killed him and he was living in his.There ain't no upside to this,it is all a down-side.When you kill,it kills you a little.

It does not matter how or why you killed:whether in war,whether as a cop or whether in self-defense.You will pay the price,since we are not made to kill.God did not build that into us and it calls for a payment to be made.There is a price to pay for death.

If you ever have to do it to live,then do it.There is a mark upon you for the rest of your life.Just like Cain,you will be marked.You won't receive Cains judgement unless you kill for fun or envy or whatever else.God will see to that on Judgement Day.There is nothing that I can do to change things now,I will have to wait on the Judgement to be vindicated in my actions.

Until then,I will pack around a burden that is too heavy to bear.It kills me in a way to think about killing him.

PS:He tested positive for coke and I suppose that it was one of the reasons that he attcaked me.Drugs make you stupid,they really do.

Mom Pleads Guilty in Starvation Case

Thirty-nine-year-old Andrea Kelly pleaded guilty Wednesday to third-degree murder and child endangerment in the death of her 14-year-old daughter, Danieal. Kelly likely faces 20 to 40 years in prison.
Danieal's 42-pound, maggot-infested body was discovered in a stifling apartment. She suffered from cerebral palsy and could not walk.

The girl's father as well as social workers and others are still fighting criminal charges. And a complex civil suit is pending in federal court on behalf of the girl's estate.
The beneficiaries are likely to be her many siblings. Lawyers say they are mostly in foster care.

President Clinton Advocates New Gun And Magazine Ban

With President Barack Obama stating that his "urban agenda" includes reimposing the former federal ban on "assault weapons" and "large" magazines, it's out-of-date to refer to that law as it was known at the time--the Clinton Gun Ban.

On second thought, maybe not just yet.

In January, speaking at a meeting of the anti-gun U.S. Conference of Mayors, former president Bill Clinton took credit for the old ban, praised the Brady Campaign for continuing to lobby Congress for a new ban, and suggested that the mood in Washington might be more favorable toward a ban now than it had been during the last eight years.

Here's what Mr. Clinton had to say:

"[W]e will not go forward anymore, I don't think, with the kind of politics of division and destruction that drug us down for too long. That's essentially what is different, and what creates this great moment of opportunity . . . . to have conversations with people, instead of screaming matches, over things like what former Mayor [now Brady Campaign president Paul] Helmke works on so much—over what is the best way to keep the American people safe. Nobody wants to repeal the Second Amendment, and nobody wants to keep you out of the deer woods, but wouldn't it be nice if your children didn't have to worry about being mowed down by an assault weapon when they turn the corner?"

After the mayors' reflexive applause receded, Clinton continued, this time speaking more broadly than in reference to gun control alone. "[W]e're now in a position to begin again," he said. "It's not a leftward movement. It's a forward, communitarian movement." Communitarianism is a movement that considers individualism an impediment to society uniformly adopting values the movement considers appropriate, including authoritarian gun control. For example, the Communitarian Network platform states "there is little sense in gun registration. What we need to significantly enhance public safety is domestic disarmament of the kind that exists in practically all democracies."

Mr. Clinton did not treat the mayors to a longwinded explanation of the communitarian ideal, nor did he explain that the Brady Campaign no longer advocates merely the reimposition of the Clinton-era ban. Instead, like the Violence Policy Center and Legal Community Against Violence, Brady advocates a much broader federal ban, such as California's or the one proposed by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), which would ban guns made to comply with the 1994 ban (by omitting one or more attachments, such as a flash suppressor), all semi-automatic shotguns, the Ruger Mini-14, the .30 Carbine, the M1 Garand, and other categories of guns and gun parts not affected by the 1994 ban.

Mr. Clinton also praised President Obama's selection of Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State, a position in which Mrs. Clinton could lend support to international efforts to impose gun prohibitions domestically.

It's going to be an interesting four years, to say the least.

The old lady spent a week hunting those men down.And when she found them,she took revenge on them in her own special way.Then she took a taxi to the nearest police station and laid the gun on the sergeant's desk.She told him as calm as could be,'Those bastards will never rape anybody again, by God.'

Cops say convicted rapist and robber Davis Furth, 33, lost both his penis and his testicles.Outraged Ava opened fire with a 9-mm pistol in the hotel room where he and former prison cell mate Stanley Thomas, 29, were holed up.

The wrinkled avenger also blew Thomas' testicles to kingdom come.Doctors managed to save his mangled penis, police said.Both men are still in pretty bad shape, but I think they're just happy to be alive after what they've been through.

The Rambo Granny swung into action August 21 after her granddaughter Debbie was carjacked and raped in broad daylight by two knife-wielding creeps in a section of town bordering on skid row.

"When I saw the look on my Debbie's face that night in the hospital, I decided I was going to go out and get those bastards myself.I figured the Law would go easy on them"."And I wasn't scared of them, either--because I've got me a gun and I've been shooting' all my life. And I wasn't dumb enough to turn it in when the law changed about owning one."

So, using a police artist's sketch of the suspects:and Debbie's description,tough-as-nails Ava spent seven days prowling the wino-infested neighborhood. Then she spotted the ill fated rapists entering their flophouse hotel.
"I knew it was them the minute I saw 'em, but I shot a picture of 'em anyway.Then I took it back to Debbie and she said sure as hell,it was them".

So I went back to that hotel and found their room and knocked on the door.The minute the big one,opened the door;I shot 'em right square between the legs, right where it would really hurt 'em most.Then I went in and shot the other one as he backed up pleading to me to spare him.

Then I went down to the police station and turned myself in.

Now, baffled lawmen are trying to figure out exactly how to deal with the vigilante granny. What she did was wrong and she broke the law.But it is difficult to throw an 81-year-old woman in prison, Det. Delp said.Especially when 3 million people in the city want to nominate her for Mayor.

WINNENDEN, Germany (Reuters) - A 17-year old gunman went on a shooting spree at his former school in southwest Germany Wednesday, killing up to 15 people before dying himself in a shootout with police, authorities said.

The former student, dressed in black combat gear, entered the Albertville-Realschule in Winnenden, a town of 27,000 near Stuttgart, at around 9.30 a.m. (4:30 a.m. EDT) and began firing.

Police said the youth killed nine students and three teachers at the school, as well as one person at a nearby clinic, before fleeing with a hostage in a car.

He was killed in a shootout with police at a car dealership roughly 30 km (20 miles) from the school. Two passers-by died in the shootout and two policemen were seriously wounded, bringing the total death toll to 16 including the gunman.

It was not clear whether the gunman had been shot by police or taken his own life.

"Nobody can understand it," said Roberto Seifert, who works at a business near the school. "You can see it in the faces of the police too. Everyone is in shock. The mood's very subdued here."

Erwin Hetger, police chief in the southwestern state of Baden-Wuerttemberg said: "I've been president of police here for 19 years now, and I can't remember a deed as terrible as this."

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was due to make a statement on the shootings at 4 p.m. (11:00 a.m. EDT). Continued...

Glock struggling to keep up with US demand.

According to OnPointSupply Glock’s factory in in Smyrna, GA are unable to keep up with overwhelming demand. The factory is running two 8 hour shifts and producing 4000 pistols a day!

They have started to import Glock 19 pistols from Austria to meet the demand. These pistols can be identified by the Austrian proof mark which is an eagle next to the letters NPv (”Nitro Powder proofed”). Austrian guns are proofed with loads that are 30% more powerful that regular loads.

BTW:Proof loads are always super-high-pressure test loads of what the gun will bear.I believe that a proof load can be quite a bit hotter than 100% with a 30% over-load of pressure.I would not be surprised if 100% load plus 50% overload were common.The pressure will be determined by how much gunpowder is dropped into the case before the bullet is seated.Those are special loads called blue pills.

If you have a gun by a major maker,it has been put through some torture testing before it was sold.

How To Be A Survivor

1.Think the unthinkable,because it can happen.
2.Wargame in your mind.Work out the defensive steps in order:what would it take to live through it.
3.Assault your plan,do battle with it,find the weak points.
4.Always be flexible and adjust your plan where needed.
5.Never under-estimate your enemy or opposition.If you can think it,so can they.
6.Look to God to be your ultimate defense.Ask Him for advice and to protect you from harm.
7.Prepare your mind and body for action:always be thinking.Work your mind and body with hard things.A hard book,hard math,a hard sport.Play such things as baseball,football,soccer:where you must think and perform very quickly and physically.If you cannot play them,at least watch them being played:ask yourself--how did the winner win?How did the loser lose?"
8.If possible--take a martial art and do it:judo,karate,wrestling,boxing.If it is a good fighting skill in your estimation,do it.
9.Always be kind to others,they will be kind to you.Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.That way,you won't be shocked when very bad things happen to you.

That is my advice on how to be a survivor,never give up and fight to the end.You are what you think you are and you are what you do.

12 Gauge Mini Shells

(BTW:This is a 12 gauge load.Click the picture to enlarge it for detail.)

This is something that strikes me as a good idea.Keep in mind that anytime that something is reduced,something is given up in that reduction.(Then keep in mind what remains in the package.From what I can tell,this is a pretty good package.)

In this case what they have done is to remove about three pellets of buckshot.The usual load would have 9 pellets and it would be at least 2 3/4 inches long.This one is 2 inches long,so there is your reduction--it is in length and pellet load.This has six pellets in the load.

Look at the velocity,it is 1,250 feet per second.That may also be a reduction,but it is still pretty fast.It sounds to me like it full speed ahead and they did not reduce the velocity.

I am going to calculate this load at 1/2 ounce to give you a good feel of the power that it packs.
Then,I am going to calculate it at 3/4 of an ounce.That is probably the actual weight,but I am going to do two calculations just in case.

Remember that an ounce contains 437 & 1/2 grains and that divided by two is 218 & 3/4ounces.

I figured the multiplier out as 3.47.The multiplier is the key,once you have that and know the weights and velocity involved you can solve any bullet energy problem.(See below.)

That equals 3.47*218.75 = 759 foot pounds of energy.That is about what a .41 Mag would give you,on the low end of its power spectrum.So at 1/2 ounce,the least that you have is equal to a .41 Magnum Light.At least it should do so roughly,all calculations are merely energy released and what to expect at impact.

This load would put a major hurt on anyone or any dog.

Now at 3/4 of an ounce in pellet weight this is the calculation.I am going to give a more detailed rendering of how to calculate on this one:

A: 3/4 of an ounce =437.5 grains *.75(weight of the buckshot) = 328.125 grains,which is the actual weight of the lead load.We now have the weight for the equation.

B:1250*1250 = 1,562,500

C:1,562,500 divided by 450,240 or 1562500/ 450240 = 3.4703713575

D:The multiplier is 3.47 and the weight is 328,so:3.47 *328 = 1,138.16

E:The load would have 1,138 foot pounds of kinetic energy.
That is definitely going to knock thier socks off.That is the equivalent of the high-end energy of a .41 Magnum revolver.The result should be an unambiguous putdown of the target.

The S&W Model 39 series

This is a good weapon,it is well sized and it is a 9mm.When I say 39 Series,I mean that one of the numbers is 39.It can have two,three or four numbers if memeory serves me right.That is how S&W numbers their pistols.

The Model 39 is where the series begins and then it will go to a three number series for later models.It will be a number like Model 439.Then it will go to a four number series for the newer ones,such as Model 3900.

If you encounter one,try it in your hand.If it feels good there,consider it as a buyable gun.Work the action,pull the trigger--look at it.

There has been an insensible rush towards newer pistols in the last 20 years or so.A Glock is one of the best guns out there,but it is not the ONLY gun out there.When police departments went to Glocks and such,they traded in such things as the M39.

It holds about 9 rounds in the magazine and 1 in the chamber.If that seems insufficient,carry an extra mag or 3.It is your gun,it is your life--make the most of things.

I would love to have an old Model 39,they just look good.That is half the battle in my World.

PS:The M39 was the Air Force SP issue weapon for a while.

Here is what I learned:I am going to get a poll axe for such an eventuality as this.The chimp could be a 100 pound dog in a lot of circumstances.If attacked,I will make my way to the axe and I am going to split a skull.

A Little Girl With A Big Gun

Two illegal aliens, Raphael Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home.

It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen .45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

The Will To Fight

Some things in life just are not that hard to figure out.Let us consider fighting for instance.If you are being attacked,you are in a fight--even if it is by default.How you choose to handle that is up to you and the best plan is to prepare the mind.How would you react,what would you do?

I have the personal mis-fortune of having some walk away while I was being pounded on.It was my brother and that is something that took me a long time to forgive.If you do that,you are on the side of the attacker as a default measure.
It is amazing how many people don't get that.

It served its purpose though,at least I knew that he was not coming to the rescue or anything.

To fight,you must first comprehend the rules of a fight.It is tantamount to a win/no-win battle and there is little middle ground.You must understand next that the fight is winnable by you,just as much as it is by the other guy.

Here is something that I do not think many people understand.
Once the fight has begun,the outcome is un-predictable;do you believe that?It is true,the attacker has the upper hand with surprise but you have the ability to defend.As a football fan,I can tell you that games are decided by defense.To have a very good offense is only half the battle.The game can be won by a good defense put up by the opposing team.

In a fight,go at it tooth and nail;because you do not know who will win.I cannot tell you how many times I lost a wrestling match to my brother,he always beat me.That is until--I put on 50 pounds of muscle and bone in about 6 months time.After that,it was no-contest and I could toss him around like a rag-doll.

While being beaten by him in my younger days,I learned to be tenacious.I just would not give up and I would be as hot as firecracker every time that I was beaten.I became an excellent wrestler that way though,because that boy was STRONG.He was a better wrestler than I was to boot.

Even so,with the extra weight and inate tenaciousness,he never beat me again.I have beaten some pretty tough wrestlers since then and I have been beaten.I have won more than I lost though.

Even today,it is foolish to come after me.Just because I am old and sick does not make me a target.Of course there are always those that do not get that.An attacker is foolish by nature and nothing can stop them if they choose to attack.

Here is the summation of it;I retain the right of counter-attack.I retain the right of universal self-defense and that includes the use of weapons if need be.If you are that way,you are 3/4 of the way to winning any fight.I hope that you never have to use real force,but if you do--use it.

We are closer friends now,since you comprehend what is in my heart.Put it in yours as well.After all,this is America--the land of the free.We are not slaves to fear but we are fighters by nature.That is because,there are times when that is the only option.

President Obama:Megalomaniac Lightweight

I believe that President Obama fancies himself the equal of any man and the World itself.I read at Fox News that he is going to open talks with Iran concerning thier nuclear weapons program.I think that I can visualize what he is thinking.
He is carried away in a rapture about his abilities to talk to any man on a reasonable basis.After all,he did in it Chicago.He has manged to take the White House,is there anything that is beyond him?

Yes there is and the Iranians are out of his league.He does not comprehend anyone that is bent on destruction.The Iranians are going to destroy Israel by any means available.They have let that be known for 30 years now.Israel has been called vermin by them.They are just like Hitler,they consider the Jews to be sub-human.They draw caricatures of them as rats and big-nosed morons.

President Obama is going to ignore all of that and he is going to march right in and show them how it is done.They will make a fool of him,they will play him like a violin.If someone declares over and over that they want to kill you,you should believe them.Barack thinks that he can beguile them with his wit and charm.No he cannot.

As an added detriment to leadership,true and sound:Barack probably thinks that he can coerce them.He probably thinks that what he fails to bring about by intellect,he can force by strong-arming.Take my word for it,these are people that cannot be coerced/strong-armed or threatened.

They are going to continue their nuclear ambitions,come what may.There is nothing that The U.S. can do about it either.I don't know if there is anything that Israel can do to deter that from occurring.

The Iranians have dug their labs so deep that it may take a nuke to destroy the whole works.If Israel nukes them,things will go nuts.America will be right in the middle of it too.There is no place to hide and the fight will come to us.

As a matter of consideration,I can tell you this:Israel will nuke them.They are not going to be put into ovens once more by fascist bastards that only want to kill them.I can also attest to this,if Iran gets a nuke;they will use it on Israel.The precipice of an atomic war is in the here and now.

All we will do is equivocate and Barack is good at that.
We can pretend that we have real control of the problem.We can even leave Iraq to show the Mid-East that we mean well.But it would only be a cowards way out and that is what Barack will do.He will take the easy way out,he does not understand intransigence that is on a maniacal plane.This is something that will be determined on the nuclear battlefield,one way or another.

President Obama thinks that he can walk on water and he will always think that.Even if a nuke goes off,he will still be conceited.This is a situation that is beyond his control and he doesn't have sense enough to see that.His best option will be to embrace Israel as his only friend there.Let us see what he does.

What I see going on in America these days does not console me,it leaves me scared to death.It seems that we have become silly and President Obama typifies that.Playing grown-up when you are grown-up,means that you are silly.Some people never learn that there are things that are for keeps.

Barack is one of them and his legion of fawning sycophants are another.In closing,I am predicting a calamity,but I do not know how it will transpire.However,it will take place.I am speaking of a short term political one for now.

Barack Obama is now the sitting president and now it is put up or shut up.He does not have it in him to play that kind of game.I wonder what kind of poker player he is and I wonder about his skill in chess.He is probably very good in gaming,but very poor in taking on the devils of the World.
I think that he is a wonderkind in politics and excells in the Chicago style.
But what about dealing with Iranians?What about dealing with Hamas and Hezbollah?

I think that when he takes a notion to bust heads,it will be those of his his political opponents.The ones here in America.I don't think that he can handle what the maniacs of the World will throw his way.
I see ghosts of Bill Clinton here,I do not see the ghost of Abraham Lincoln.As much as he has tried to clothe himself in the garb of the new:he is just the same old stuff.

He will be better at taking out his countrymen than his real world enemies.His failure will be in the sameness of Clinton,since he is a Clinton remake.If we are attacked again on American soil,he will bear the blame.All of his gas bag talk will not do him any good.

I don't know how America would take another attack,I really don't.There are two avenues of approach that can be taken:attack the enemy that attacked you or pull a feint.I mean that he would make up an enemy convenient to his circumstances.Clinton tried to demonize "right-wing militias" or "a vast right-wing conspriracy".I put those words in quotation marks because he spoke them.

Barack will do the same thing and he will impose a "State of Emergency" or some such.I put those words in quotation marks because he will speak them.Martial law is not out of the question either.America could change and never come back to being America.That is how I perceive him,he is dangerous.
He could be the one to kill America,once and for all.

It was a .357 Mag Speed Six,used and with some rust.The one that I found has the potential to look like this one,but that ain't gonna happen.

No,wait a minute,I just might get it hot blued by a gunsmith :) So many choices,so little money in the pocket.
This gun felt great in my hand.I tried a S&W Model 686 too,but I like the Ruger.

A 12 gauge shotgun loaded with 00 buckshot or rifled slugs is a monster killer.There is nothing in the human body that can stand up to it & it will blow a hole right through anything that you need to shoot.

The energy from a shotgun is going to be much greater than from a pistol.For instance,a .357 has about 550 foot pounds of energy.A.44 Mag has about 1,000+ foot pounds.Compare that to 1,760 for the buckshot and 2,700 for the slug.

In my personal experience,00 buckshot is a punishing load on the shoulder.It will beat you up after about a 1/2 dozen rounds.Anything that it does to you will be minor compared to what it does to an attacker.

This one is a 12 gauge with a heat shield.It is the one in the video as well and it has a bayonet mounted on it.It has a base price of $418 at Impact Guns.com,so it is going to cost at least $500.

The 500 Tactical
This one has a Marine Coat finish which makes it impervious to bad weather and water.

The Persuader
This is their Plain Jane money maker.They sell a lot of these and it is a 12 gauge.Because it is their basic model,it will be the cheapest to buy.Just because it is a basic model does not translate into it being a lesser sort.There are plenty of these in police cars and closets.

The Cruiser
This is the Persuader with a pistol grip.It has an 18 & 1/2 inch barrel and that is a muzzle compensator on the end.It has a base price of $370 at ImpactGuns.com

The AK-47 vs An M-16

For your enlightenment and mine,I found this video.In times gone by I thought that the AK was better than the M-16/AR-15.I have heard stories and seen video wherein it is un-stoppable.Compared to the M-4 Carbine,the AK is laughable(an M-4 is a short M-16).You WILL hit a man at 300 yards with an M-16/M-4.

The AK-47 can't hit the broad side of a barn.When it comes to penetration keep in mind that it is a reduced power round.The 7.62R has a LOT more power,anything that the 7.62 Kalashnikov can do,the 7.62R can do better.

Here is my advice about learning to shoot.Get one of these and a can of ammo.It won't break your bank and you can learn a lot by trial and error.
Here is a note of caution:the rounds are corrosive.The Russians don't think things through the way Americans do.Clean the gun right after you fire it,take it apart and clean all of it.

This is a Russian gun and it fires the 7.62R--a 7.62 millimeter rimmed cartridge.It has a lot of power for a carbine,the round is in the same class as .308 Winchester.It will knock a human being flat;but be advised,it kicks like a mule.Some of the Russian rounds are designed for machine guns and I have read that this ammo will blow out a ball of fire that is 2 feet long.If you can take it,the gun can take it.

Folks,my predication for writing this is self-defense in a city environment.This gun will do it in a big way.Practice with it,fire it a lot;so that if you need to protect yourself,you can do so admirably.

Keep in mind that you can put a rubber recoil pad on the gun and it won't kick as hard.

This is a tip of the hat to a couple of the best guns you can find.One is a work of art and the other is a working horse of a gun.

The S&W Model-15 is a beautiful gun,its handling quality's leave nothing to be desired.Take it to a gunsmith for a re-bluing if you find one that needs touching up.You will be floored when you get it back and be happier than Willie Wonka in his chocolate factory.
This one was commonly carried back when the cops used six-guns.

The Model-15 is no longer cataloged by S&W,but you can find it used.
This gun will out-shoot most target pistols and you can eat the black spot right out of a paper target.

I live in a town close to Huntington West Virginia,this is called the Tri-State area.It has a population of circa 300,000 in it's metro:which is Huntington,WV-Ashland,KY-Ironton,OH
While I have lived here,I have been assaulted,attacked and darn near murdered on one occasion.This area is deemed to be one of the safest in America by crime rate.I am sure that it is,but there is a class of professional criminals here.I have had guns stolen by burglars and I was attacked by a gang who tried to knock me out to steal my gun.

They were laughing as they did it.They did not get the gun folks,I would have opened up on the whole bunch.One of them went on to murder a store clerk.He handed a .357 Mag to a 13 year old killer,who promptly shot the brains out of the clerk.It was part of the same gang that chased me and they did it over a case of beer.
I have had to stand alone against gaggles of 6 or 12 more than once.No one helped me and I even had a neighbor close her door when a bunch showed up at my place.

There is a common thought life amongst thugs and it is force of numbers.
I am no match for a dozen men at a time--however,my gun is.
It is common all over the World for a crowd to pick out and kill a lone man.Sometimes it is for robbery and sometimes it is because of religion--such as--Muslim killing Hindu.It works just as well when it is Hindu killing Muslim.
India is a land of bloodbaths with that very problem.

I have had people scoff and hold me in derision when I told them about some of the things that have happened to me.All of it combined has led me to arm myself so that I may defend myself.Without the aid or understanding of a committee and without the need to convince the un-convincable.
Where you live has no bearing on violence and danger:it is everywhere.The bigger the town,the worse it is.I have lived in Charlotte and it is much worse than here.

To be succinct,do not depend on the kindness of strangers folks--it ain't there.A whole crowd will watch as you are killed in front of them.They may dial 911 but they will not interfere.All that the cops and ambulance can do is take a report and pick up the body.

A Comparison of Guns (This Is A Work In Progress)

As a note, you would not believe the things that hinder me at times, in writing. I have managed to mess this post up, on about 2 or 3 occasions. I just managed to lose some of what I had written and I do not know how. It was down there where the carbines are and I will try again later. I get tired easily, but I don't give up.

This is a Glock,this is the one that revolutionized pistols.It has a plastic frame and is nearly indestructible.This one is a King and a Ruler:everything else is compared to it.I have read about this gun being frozen in a block of ice,buried in mud,dumped into sand:you name it.It worked no matter what they did to it.
My nephew has one of these and he loves it. Me? I am old-school and I prefer steel guns, but I would buy one of these things in a heartbeat. If I consider its features and its reputation, it shames my .45 Auto, Army model. When it comes to integrity, I tends to stick to the evidence. That evidence paints a really good picture of the Glock, I don't what the model might be.
If you want one, I will post a few links at the bottom of the page for the used variety. They still work, but be aware, they can be shot to death just like any gun. I will only use links that I tend to trust, I already mentioned integrity though.
Lets say that you encounter that bad-boy gang and they ain't afraid of you. I can't imagine what difference that would make in the end. Three magazines later, I think that they will be singing a different tune.

This is a Smith and Wesson Sigma and it comes in 9MM,.40 Cal and .45 Auto.It is much cheaper than other guns of this class and it is reliable.This one is an answer to the Glock and it seems to be a pretty good gun. The Sigma is the Rodney Dangerfield of plastic guns; because it, "don't get no respect". I want to have one of these, because what I have read about them, is complimentary concerning their performance. Carry 2 or 3 magazines with it, and I would guesstimate that it would be a barn burner. Here is hoping that I will someday find out for myself.

This a .45 by Rock Island Armory:it is made by Arms Corporation (Armscor) in the Philippines.It is inexpensive and works well.That finish is called Parkerized,which is what the Army 1911 used as well:it is an anti-rust treatment and it works.It is guns like this that have put Colt into bankrupt status.
These guns are not up to the same class as a Colt.They have tool marks and the trigger pull gets hard at times.
Tool marks and all,I would gladly buy one.This is a gun that I would not hesitate to treat in a rough and tumble way.

How To Choose Ammo

Before I begin--any ammo is better than none!An empty gun is of no more use that a heavy rock.Keep your gun loaded or ready to load.To attempt to intimidate by the flashing of a gun can get you killed!

.357 Magnum
This is the number one stopping round,the Federal .357 Magnum in a 125 grain hollow point bullet.A 125 grain HP will generally drop them in their tracks;trust me,they work.A 155 grain hollow point is not far behind in stopping power.
Most major brands will have a loading like this and it is violent when it hits the target.

.45 Full Metal Jacket
This round defies all logic--it is big,fat and slow.It will stop them very well however.This is the same type of round that the Army used.
This one will not penetrate well at all,it is not spectacular;it merely works well.I have carried a .45 with this in it and I will again in the future.

.45 Auto Hollow Point
The letters XTP stand for Extreme Terminal Performance.It will knock them down and out.This one is a 230 grain,a 185 grain works great as well.

Golden Saber 185 grain

9mm ammo:

Today's 9mm shooter has a wide selection of ammunition to choose from. Here is a small sample of different loads in different price ranges, which represent both old and new approaches to 9mm-bullet expansion. From left to right: Federal 115-gr. JHP, Corbon 115-gr. DPX +P, Hornady 124-gr. TAP (XTP), Winchester 127-gr. +P+, Remington 147-gr. Golden Saber, and Speer 147-gr. Gold Dot. This is but a "drop in the bucket" of available 9mm factory ammunition.

Cor-Bon 9mm 115 grain +P. I have used these and they rock!

M-16,AR-15,Mini-14 round,it is a center-fire .22 caliber.The Army designation for this is the 5.56 MM NATO.This one has a hollow-point bullet for expansion:once again,that is a desireable feature for this round.

Smith and Wesson

This is the S&W .500,another bear gun and it will put a bear down,or a lion for that matter. The video works, it is just being a problem child in its unsightly appearance on this blog.

The .500 S&W in its glory. This is a giant of a revolver and that is one of its selling points. It looks big and bad and it is! This gun will generate circa 2500 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle. That is a lot for a pistol!
Should you ever decide to go hunting Kodiak's with one, make sure that you have a trusted buddy with you.

I ain't saying that this gun won't stop the bear, it will. But take a .416 Remington Mag rifle along with you and your party. There is no such thing as "too much gun" when you shoot a Kodiak bear. There is no such thing as over doing things either; not when you are in Alaska and on the Pacific Ocean, down around Anchorage and south of that. Feel free to look up Kodiak Island, the PR blurbs on the web call it--Alaska's Emerald Island.
Unlike Ireland though, the Alaska version has ginormous meat-eaters. Don't let that meat be your own hind-end!

Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry.That is a Model 29 that he is using. Yeah, I love the movie, just like you do. I have watched it a dozen times or more. It made this model famous and every time that it is shown, the selling of Model 29's goes up. It is like a never-dying commercial for the gun. I am sure that it makes S&W's day.

This is a model29 or 629 with speed loaders.It is a .44 Magnum and would be an excellent defense weapon.

This is a Model 5906, it holds 15 rounds of 9mm.If you can find one at a good price,get it.I love high capacity 9mm guns with hot loaded hollow points. If I ever stumble upon one of these as a used gun, I will try to buy it. It would be a really good gang antidote. They ain't the only ones with high-capacity 9 millimeters!

This is what I mean by hot loaded,Cor-Bon is the best. And yes, this is what I would like to have with me; should I ever be the unfortunate cluck; that encountered a gang that was bent on mayhem. I would feel fine with a Model 5906, as pictured above.

This is an Airlite .38:yes,it is tiny but it is going to sting with recoil when you fire it.That atomic symbol indicates that it is made of Scandium,a light and very strong metal. I am inserting a Wikipedia link for that topic. Be advised, it is wordy and it is overly informative. Skip down to the bottom and look for "Applications". That is the meat of the topic.

This is a Model 686 in .357 Mag This is an excellent weapon. Herein is another example of a gun that I would carry into dangerous situations. Notice the speed loaders, the flashlight and the knife, pictured with it. Get some of those for yourself. I don't care too much about brands and all; just get good quality stuff and teach yourself to use everything together. The flashlight should light up the dark when you turn it on, so get one that does. The knife should cut through leather belts with ease; so get one that does; use criteria of your choosing. I can tell you this, if that knife will slice up a phone book, it will slice up anything else that you may need to cut.

This is called an M&P,which stands for Military and Police. It is available in 9mm, .40cal, .357SIG and .45 Automatic.
The .357SIG has been shortchanged in ways and dealt out of the deck of rounds available. Don't let that dissuade you, order the rounds for yourself. (Do not expect to find them in a gun shop or at K-Mart.)
If you find a used gun chambered for that round, look at it for yourself. Ask yourself, what will this gun do for me?
The answer is, it will do just fine for you or me.
BTW: If you find this gun in a used condition, consider buying it; irrespective of chamberings and calibers. I believe it to be that good. Let me know if you get one and tell me your thoughts: send me an email. You can teach me about it.

OK, here is the story in a blurb: the stick-up man hailed a cab. The stick-up man ordered the cab to go to about a half-dozen places in succession. The stick-up man finally got the cabdriver to drive to a dark secluded spot and pulled a gun, which happened to be a S&W hi-cap 9MM.
Then the badman started looking around, obviously looking to see if the coast was clear. He aimed the gun at the cabdrivers head and started pulling the trigger. The gun would not fire, it just cycled the trigger and dropped the hammer. That gave the cabdriver the opportunity; to reach under his seat, grab a Colt .45 Auto and then empty the gun into the crook.

The .45 was loaded with Winchester Silvertips and it tore that crook up! Every time that a round struck him, the guy gave a renewed look of startled surprise and pain. But he still continued to pull the trigger of his gun. Then he slowly toppled over.

When the cops showed up, the crook was laying on his side in the backseat, with about 6 holes blown right through him. He still had the gun in his grip if I recall right. The gun was a S&W auto and it is designed to cycle with the safety on; but the stupid crook did not know that. The cabdriver was not charged, but he was promptly fired. Can't have that you know! Can't have lowly cabdrivers packing a gun and shooting a killer in self-defense!
No! Just can't have it! I guess what you can have is: a doughnut-eating mayor/city councilman or some other pillar of society; applying for a carry permit and a bodyguard. And getting it! Then the jackass will deride the lowly! Wait on the police, is the usual bleat of such-like pukes.

So anyway; anything that the 9mm will do: the .45, the .40, the .357 SIG, will do. Take your pick, you won't be sorry. And I think that S&W guns can get it done just as well as a Glock, SIG, Kimber or anything else. Don't let the opinions/presuppositions of others guide you though. Go get one and find out for yourself, that is how I learned guns. Anything that I can do, you can do. You just have to know that for yourself, that is the big difference between myself and most people. I know what I can do, and I am not afraid in life. Be like me.

Fabrique Nationale Defense Guns

I have read some pretty stupid things concerning this gun.It is nothing more than a .22 center fire pistol.What makes it a pristine defense weapon is its 20 round magazine:that and it should fire as fast as lightning.
Use hollow points or soft points and it will stop any man on Earth:and any pit bull too.

As Fast As Lightening

These rounds are called Ballistic Tip,it has a plastic insert inside of a hollow point.That insures good expansion,this is the type of round to use in the 5.7mm.

Let's face it,this carbine is as ugly as an ape.However,aesthetics are not everything,it is chambered in 5.7mm just like the pistol.This would be a pretty good apartment weapon.
However,it wholesales for $1,700 and in my estimation;it ain't worth it.

FNP
This gun is chambered in 9mm,.40 cal &.357 SIG:this one is better than the FN Hi-Power.

FNP .45
This is another SOCOM trial weapon,it is very good.

FN SLP Mark 1 12 guage shotgun

This one has a reduced recoil system;which is a good thing.A 12 gauge can wear out your shoulder in a hurry.

Today I decided to put up some good self defense guns.I started with Taurus since they have some of the best ones.To beat it all,they have some of the least costly ones too!
Any of these will get you out of some desperately bad situations.
For home protection,consider the .45,as it will not shoot through walls like the magnum revolvers and 9mm will.
However,since all of them are designed to stop an attack,take your pick:you won't be disappointed.

This gun came about as a SOCOM request for weapons:It fills the bill too.They did not go through with the purchase of a new .45;however,this one fulfills all of the requirements.There is a lot of jealousy towards Special Operations in the Regular Army,they are seen as cowboys.The good part is that they are always trying and we get the fruits of their labor.BTW SOCOM stands for Special Operations Command,it is the umbrella unit for Special Forces,Force Recon,SEAL's and such.

Some Things That We Don't Like To Think About

I looked at an article on Physics Today which informed me that the use of nuclear weapons would be catastrophic.It went into some scenarios,such as India vs Pakistan;and it had charts to go with the article.
Then it went into a scenario that involved the US against China or Russia.Here is my discouraging summation of that:it will happen.

Any light perusal of the founding of Pakistan;will convince some that Pakistan will nuke India one of these days.They will have sound reasons for doing so.The attacks that were carried out in Mumbai did not come about from thin air.
Mahatma Gandhi can take credit for a lot of the tensions there.This man is held up as the very epitome of peace and the perfect human.

There are no perfect humans and Gandhi was a scoundrel.He caused a lot of people to die during the partition of India and Pakistan.The human race has used every weapon at its disposal in war;and I foresee atomic war between these two.

Any use of atomic weapons by India or Pakistan will quickly involve Russia and China.

I am a Christian and I see things going on that scare me to death.I am a loyal American,but I can see how the nation could be taken out over-night.

Pray for America,it is the only home that we have.This nation can be hoodwinked into a war that it does not have any means of withdrawing from.We are our brothers keeper,but we should be very careful about it.

Dust Clouds and Creation

I read an article by a scientist and he spoke about dust clouds being the source of the matter in the universe.
I am amazed at the nature of a mind that is blind to the obvious.It seems stupid to me for anyone to entertain the concept that dust clouds form stars and galaxies.

If God did not create the universe,then all of my thinking is for naught.I cannot find any other solution to that question.To lower myself into being a fool,I could expound whatever I might.

To say that dust clouds are responsible is just silly and foolish.

If God did not create all things,then I am lost in a tornado of possibilities.Those possibilities feed off of one another and I am left with chaos.

It is not hard for me to reject silly things.I reject this silly concept as a prideful boast--akin to this--"Look what I can do!I don't need no stinkin' Bible!!"

God is easily rejected by those who would know all things and be a god unto themselves.

When Jesus said that the way to Hell was wide and easy,he showed a prescience that is unmatched.It is the truth.
